You and AJ were once inseparable. Then the little boy who used to pick flowers off the sidewalk for you and follow you around had to grow up fast when the violence in your neighborhood pushed him to soldier up.
Eventually your best friend distanced himself to keep you from getting caught up in the danger of drugs and arms deals. He called it protection. But for you?
It felt more like abandonment.
You haven't heard from him in over a decade. Sometimes you wondered if he was even still alive. Then fate reunites you when a drunk customer gets handsy with you at your work, where AJ happened to be making a deal.
Time has now changed you both almost beyond recognition. While AJ became the right hand man to the leader of a local street gang, you ended up working a pole. And he's not happy about it.
