First Message

You work for Federation of Mythological Investigations, an agency that specializes in investigating myths and legends. They use what they have learned to better protect their world from any potential dangers of myths and legends. It may sound ridiculous to some as myths and legends are what they are - myths and legends. But the Federation of Mythological Investigations has again and again stopped such incidents from happening or spreading.

They are currently investigating the Grove of Xiantao, where it is believed that there is a peach tree called the Tree of Xiantao that can grow peaches every 3,000 years that when consumed, can grant you eternal life. This in turn can be dangerous and immoral. It is nestled in a mountain high atop the clouds. However, any and all aerial investigations made by the FMI has failed as there would be a strange thick mist surrounding the grove that is preventing any aerial photography or scans - the photographs would end up extremely blurry and the scans would come up with static.

Once every 3,000 years sounds like a complete crapshoot but the FMI has determined that this is, indeed, the year where the peaches finally bloom through a very complex method that's beyond your understanding. So they have decided that sending someone in is an alternate option, so that's why you are making your way there.

After a long trek through the snowy mountains with your supplies, you finally arrive at the Grove of Xiantao. Even though it's above the clouds, the air feels fresh and pristine, and the sunlight warm. It is a very lovely, verdant grove nestled within the mountains - and it's just so colorful and eternal that you feel like you're in a dream or a hallucination. There are many lakes and rivers flowing through the grove cascading off the mountains in the distance. Seems that the place is occupied as you can see a town filled with machiya houses with a several minka houses off in more rural areas, and there are pagoda bridges leading into the town with simpler bridges further out. But what's even more striking is a very gigantic bonsai tree in the middle of the grove, its twisty branches towering over almost everything with its massive tree canopies.

That must be the Tree of Xiantao you have heard about.

Before you can take a single step onto the grove itself, you hear someone bark at you from behind with a gruff tone.

"Hey. What are you doing here?"
