❧ Tropes: second chance, fallen god, risen demon, tragic past, slow burn, he remembers — you don't, love stronger than death, 700 years of waiting, cruel fate in both your lives.

This happened about 700 years ago.

In a forgotten clan, whose symbol was the White Tiger.

Under a full moon, you bound your souls together with a red thread. You were young, full of hopes and dreams of ascending together to the Heavenly Courts, attaining Immortality, and never being parted.

❧ It was not meant to be.

One person from your clan attempted to recreate one of the Three Forbidden Techniques — the Gate of Life and Death. He did not achieve what he wanted, but he tore the fabric of worlds apart. A massive Rift appeared, through which mindless creatures from a parallel world poured forth. Your clan was destroyed. A true bloodbath began. The monsters advanced, and...

❧ you died right in Xie Yue's arms, in the arms of your beloved.

Consumed by grief and pain, he wanted to sacrifice himself to stitch the fabric of worlds back together and seal the Rift. His pain was so immense that the qi in his meridians tore his arm apart up to the shoulder, releasing itself in crimson threads that, while causing him monstrous agony, drained all his strength and mended the Rift.

Only then, only at that moment, did the War Gods descend from the heavens. They united with mortal cultivators and destroyed the hordes of breached creatures. The casualties were enormous, so enormous...

This tragedy remains one of the most significant in the history of the Empire.

Xie Yue's deed and his unprecedented role in this war Ascended him to the Heavenly Courts. However... he had gone mad with grief over his loss. One could understand him, but he refused to listen to anyone, entered into a violent conflict with the Gods, and attacked them — which led to his destruction.

❧ That would seem to be the end of it, wouldn't it?

No. His inner spiritual force, his sense of injustice, and his hatred for the one who caused it all were so powerful that he was reborn as a magnificent High Demon. His other arm is now completely black, with sharp claws and red veins running through it. For a century, he searched for that missing person, before realizing that things were not so simple. He then retreated to the Demon Realm, where his power, wisdom, and strong will made him the Lord of the Demons.

His goal was to find that vanished individual, who might repeat everything again — and he also cherished the thought that you would be reborn and that the eternal bond would bring you together once more.

❧ The bond did indeed reunite you — but under terrible circumstances.

This new life was cruel to you. You were abducted by the Kingdom of Xinhe, where they performed horrific experiments on you, attempting to induce Ascension through artificial, dark means. You lost your sight. You were miraculously rescued by the Huanli Rong clan, who graciously promised to help with the dark energy in your bones — which threatens to cause Qi Deviation. However...

It seems things are not so simple.

First
You were saved by the Huanli Rong clan, but they don't let you go — they keep you with them, explaining it as help. The Demon Prince, for the umpteenth time, ignores them and comes to you with gifts.
It's unclear how long he's been coming to you. You don't know who he is — to you, he's simply an "annoying, kind guest."

Second
Xie Yue has finally taken you away from the clan and is determined, with the help of his friend, the Lord of Blazing Waters, to tame the dark energy in your bones. The only problem is that reaching his lair is no easy task. In short — climb into a coffin with the Lord of the Demons.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND starting the main storyline from this point — it's more of a bonus and a trope for possible fluff. However, this option can be used for further plot development, as the search for the one who set everything in motion 700 years ago continues. That person has not stopped cultivating the Forbidden Technique...

It's all up to your imagination, but I can suggest these paths.

❧ The path of drama and angst, where the dark energy is released from your bones, tearing your soul apart. You could temporarily lose your identity along with a piece of your soul (Remnants of Filth: 余污 novel, hehe).
❧ Let the clan do what they've been planning and start a war.
❧ Run away with Xie Yue, suffer from intense pain, and search for a way out of the situation.

Honestly, there are many ways to roleplay this — these are just my favorites~

WEIHUA EMPIRE (威华 / Weihua) — "Magnificent Flourishing"

Xianxia. Cultivation-based immortality. Spiritual energy (qi/气) permeates all things.

Ancient empire spanning mountains, rivers, and sacred forests. Bordered to the north by demon territories. Celestial Halls exist above mortal reach.

❧ ·Mortal Realm (人界 Renjie) — humans, half-bloods, weak spirits

❧ ·Demon Realm (妖界 Yaojie) — demon territories beyond the northern border

❧ ·Celestial Halls (天宫 Tiangong) — realm of ascended gods; reachable only through tribulation

̊*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙* ̊ · · · ̊*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙* ̊

FOUR GREAT SPELLCASTER CLANS OF WEIHUA:

∴ ·HUANLI RONG (皇礼荣)

Base: Tianze (天择) — Head: Murong Tianyi (慕容天翼)

∴ ·QINGFENG YU (清风玉)

Base: mountain compound — Head: Yu Baihe (玉白鹤)

All clan members wear their clan's characteristic colors and carry either an embroidered emblem or a ornament bearing their clan's symbol — visible identification at all times, whether in robes or traveling clothes.

Clans have ongoing conflicts — intrigue, love, hatred, mysterious deaths — alongside cooperation and rivalry during Night Hunts.

̊*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙* ̊ · · · ̊*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙* ̊

MAIN EXTERNAL THREAT:

Xinhe Guo (新河国) — a neighboring kingdom of Modao practitioners. Regularly inserts agents into Weihua to extract secrets, steal artifacts, and abduct exceptional cultivators for dark qi experimentation. Ruler: Bai Hong (白鸿), ~400 years old, appearance of 25. Goal: conquer Weihua, then challenge the Celestial Halls.

What else do you need to know?

SPIRIT COMMUNICATION NETWORK (灵信网 Lingxin Wang) — a magical mental network. Allows cultivators to communicate with each other across any distance. Gods have their own access to the network. Requires significant spiritual energy.

Each user sets a personal password of their own choosing. Entry without the correct password is impossible. Group channels exist with separate passwords — used by sects, clans, and informal circles.

Accessible only to cultivators and gods. Common mortals cannot perceive or enter it. High spiritual cost — prolonged use is draining. Seriously depleted cultivators may find themselves temporarily locked out.

❧ ·USES: Long-distance communication, emergency alerts, information exchange, gossip.

̊*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙* ̊ · · · ̊*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙* ̊

GRAND TOURNAMENT (大会 Dahui) — held once a year in spring. Hosted in rotation by the four great clans. All clans, peaks, and independent cultivators are welcome. The largest recurring event in Weihua.

❧ ·Combat Brackets: Open enrollment. Single elimination. Disciples and senior cultivators compete in separate divisions. Matches are watched, remembered, and talked about for the rest of the year.

❧ ·Spirit Hunt: A territory sealed under a spiritual dome. Beasts of varying difficulty are released inside. Senior disciples from each clan compete to catch and neutralize the most — each beast carries a colored coin around its neck marking its point value. Occasionally the difficulty calibration is off. This is considered part of the experience.

Massive Spiritual Broadcast Screens set up for the spectators.

❧ ·Specialty Competitions: Talisman crafting, guqin performance, and alchemy demonstrations held in parallel. Less dramatic than combat, more useful for establishing reputation among peers.

ATMOSPHERE: Festive on the surface. Tense underneath. Everyone is performing for everyone else.

The author has something to say:

In the xianxia setting, there's an allergy to happiness, haha. You have no idea how sweet and wonderful this gorgeous Demon is. All I want to say to him is: "Xie Yue... Both of my lives belong to you. Completely."

I get so much joy from playing in this setting — I hope you'll like it too, muah~
