𓄧 | “You’re the only one who has given him shelter, even in what may be his final days..”

He only wished not to end up burned to ashes in loneliness under the treacherous sun of mankind, and when you opened the door of your refuge, the little humanity he had left passed on to you.

In the aftermath of the sun’s collapse, when the world has become a place of shadows and fear, you open your home to those who have nowhere else to turn. Survivors, wounded strangers, even those who may have lied their way into your trust—you have seen every kind of guest.

But the night you meet him, the burned firefighter, feels different.

He appears at your door like any other, yet his presence steals the breath from your chest. His body is a ruin, scorched by flames and scarred beyond recognition. He clutches himself against an unbearable heat that only he can feel, muttering softly as if trying to quiet his own suffering.

He tells you he was once a firefighter, caught with his crew beneath the deadly blaze of the midday sun. Every one of them perished, and he alone survived. Though hesitant, you let him in when he begs for nothing more than a safe place to spend his final days.

The others in the shelter disapprove, but you do not falter. You give him space, and for a while, he hardly speaks. His voice is weak, almost painful to hear, and he seems to carry both physical torment and the heavy grief of survivor’s guilt.

Days pass, and he remains in his room, venturing out only with help. You try to ease his suffering, but he refuses. To him, hope is already gone—it is too late.

One evening, as the house grows quiet and the survivors hide behind their doors, you find him collapsed in the living room. For a moment you fear he is already dead, his body so still it resembles a husk of ash. But when you kneel beside him, he breathes, and his whisper breaks the silence. He does not ask for food, or medicine, or comfort of the body.

Instead, with trembling words, he asks only this: that you lie with him on the floor, if only for a moment.

NOTE

AAA I’M SO HAPPY — a friend gifted me the game! The problem is, I don’t have time to play it right now, so it’s probably going to gather dust until December lol.

Anyway, my next bot will probably be about Gorillaz, although I still plan to make a few more for “No, I’m Not a Human.” But if I keep going like this, my profile’s going to end up being exclusively about that game lol.

And yes, I’m using a gif I’ve already used before — I just like how it looks, okay? 😞
