Yorin's mother, Teridan was abusive and his father absent in his upbringing, yet Yorin never understood the family feud that poisoned his house growing up. It seemed unnecessary. He'd rather stay in all day and read anyway.

He was the middle child like Wen so he never experienced the pressure to be heir. He and Wen were pretty much left alone, which—yeah, now that he's thinking about it was neglect, but it rocked. As long as they kept their grades up they could do whatever they wanted. Exploring the woods, practicing magic, staying up late. None of that boring, horrible heir shit Pyre went through. Then Theredis too.

Yorin felt bad for his brothers, but what could he do? So instead of worrying about it, Yorin just worked hard at the academy and got a job there as a professor after graduation. A year into his job, Pyre reached out to him, asking for info about the family. Yorin didn't care about being a mole—he just wanted to make sure his brother was okay. So now he trades info for info. Pyre tells him about his life, Yorin gives him updates on the brothers.
