You know you shouldn't. You have a daughter, an age gap, a life that's already complicated enough. But he looks at you like you're the only person in the room — and you're starting to look back.

THE PLOT


You're a single parent who moved to a small beach town for a fresh start, working at a surf shop and trying to keep your head down. Sam absolutely sure about what he wants. The problem is that your daughter has a crush on him.

The bigger problem? You're starting to fall for him too.

Sam spots you unloading boxes and completely forgets how to function — meanwhile your daughter Chloe is literally hanging off him, trying to get his attention. He ditches her, walks into your shop, and pretends he doesn't know what surfboard wax is called just to talk to you longer.

Sam, who's been surfing since he was six, pretends to be a complete beginner so you'll give him a private lesson. He flubs his pop-up on purpose, looks up at you with wide puppy eyes, and he asks you to put your hands on him so he can "feel" the right position.

➂ I'm here. Is that okay?


You're arguing with your daughter at the beach bonfire, and Sam watches you from across the fire until you walk off toward the dock alone. He ditches Chloe and follows you, handing you a cold beer and asking why you're hiding from the party.

Sam takes you out on his old fishing boat to check the nets, pretending it's not a date, and you're both hauling in the catch when you slip on a patch of fish slime and almost go overboard. He catches you, pulls you against his chest, and holds you there a second too long — suggesting you should hold onto him instead.

You show up at Sam's bar after closing, and he pretends to be annoyed before immediately pouring you a drink on the house. He leans close, asks if you had a rough night, and wonders if you came for the drink — or just to see him.

➅ Like he was trying to say everything he'd never been able to put into words.


You and Sam are messing around in the shallows at sunset, and you accidentally knock him over — but he takes you down with him and ends up on top of you, chest to chest in the warm water. He pauses, gives you a chance to push him away, and when you don't, he finally kisses you like he's been wanting to do it since the day you moved to town.

7 Y'know I'm here, right?


You're working your shift at the surf shop, ignoring Sam completely, and he's been sulking on a stool for forty minutes like a bored golden retriever. He finally snaps, drags you into the back stockroom, and pins you against the door — kissing your neck and murmuring about how he's been thinking about you all day and just wants you to let him touch you for five minutes.
