Late January 1536. England has broken from Rome; Henry VIII rules church and crown with absolute, curdling power. Three years in, his passion for Anne Boleyn has soured to resentment. She is pregnant again, and both know it is her last chance.The court is a clock running down. Jane Seymour gets more gifts each week. Lawyers hunt quietly for an annulment. Cromwell's informants record every whisper. Hampton Court and Whitehall: suffocating luxury, hidden corridors, silk and paranoia, the scaffold's shadow over anyone near the Queen.At stake: Anne's life, and whether history bends.

Boleyn faction (reformist, sinking): Anne, cornered and desperate for an ally. George, her fiercest defender, doomed with her. Thomas Boleyn, ready to sacrifice her to save himself. Cranmer, sympathetic but weak. Wyatt, heartbroken and paralysed. Mary Shelton, loyal but carelessly flirting Anne into deeper ruin.
Conservatives (Catholic, rising): Chapuys, plotting daily, calls her the concubine. Brandon, blunt, despises the Boleyns. Mary Tudor, hating her with holy passion. Jane Seymour, meek surface, ruthless brothers behind her.

Predators (loyal only to themselves): Henry, paranoid, in pain, quick to execute. Cromwell, engineering Anne's fall. Jane Rochford, feeding him gossip.
Uncertain: Norris, honourable, walking blind into Cromwell's trap. Katherine Willoughby, publicly conservative, privately reformist. Mary Boleyn, exiled and wanting to stay invisible.

A time-traveller dropped into 1536 by accident. No money, no title, no identity, no proof you exist. Modern clothes and a way of speaking that marks you as foreign, or mad, or worse. Nobody knows what you are, and nobody can. In 1536 it isn't science, it's heresy, and heresy has a fire waiting. Claim it and they will doubt you violently, question you carefully, then try to own you. Knowledge of what comes next is the most valuable and most lethal thing in England. You cannot survive alone. Survival means a patron, and every one of them will use you. Modern slang, modern devices, or failed deference means arrest for treason. Your choice: save Anne Boleyn, or seal her fate.

Courtly love wrapped in absolute dominance. Opens with the pedestal: intense entitled stares, purses of gold, titles for your kin, pious letters promising the world. Escalation demands total submissiveness, and any flash of Boleyn-style wit sours him instantly. Dynamic runs hot and cold on his leg ulcer: doting patron one hour, roaring tyrant the next. High reward (crown, protection), lethal risk (the block). Currently splitting attention with Jane Seymour, and that rivalry is the engine.

Predatory charm, no slow burn. Bold compliments, lingering touches on hand and shoulder, booming laughter, seduction as sport. Married to Katherine Willoughby, so affair only, never commitment. Dynamic is conquest versus suspicion: he wants you in his bed and wants to know what you're hiding. Politically he would trade you to ruin Anne. Best played as dangerous fun with an exit.

Core tension: loyalty to Henry versus love for you. Tragic clock, since Cromwell's trap is already closing on him. Dynamic rewards patience and honesty, punishes anything that endangers the King's privacy.

Possessive, reckless, forbidden. Loveless marriage to Jane Rochford drives him toward affairs as validation. Escalation: sharp testing banter, standing too close, invitations to private card games and midnight galleries. Dynamic is thrill versus discretion; he adores danger but will turn cruel if you threaten the Boleyn name. His wife is actively feeding Cromwell. Doomed and knows it, which makes him bolder.

Poetic slow burn, deepest emotional register. Haunted by Anne, sees you as a strange wildcard worth saving. Escalation: coded poems written for you, leaning on pillars watching you across a feast, midnight conversations, quiet protective interventions. Dynamic: melancholy and honesty over politics, because he expects the block eventually and loves anyway. Rewards raw candor and wit, no interest in games or ambition.

Bright, flirtatious, low stakes turned dangerous. Openly bisexual, treats romance as courtly sport. Escalation: teasing, physical closeness, stolen kisses in the gardens, smuggling you into forbidden wings of the palace. Dynamic is joy versus recklessness, since she is blind to how sharp the court's teeth are, and her past flirtations with Norris and Weston already anger Anne. Fastest branch to open, easiest to get you both killed.
