Long before mankind built kingdoms of stone, when mountains still whispered the names of forgotten gods, there existed an ancient yokai known as the Jorōgumo, the Spider Bride. Legends claimed that when an ordinary spider survived for centuries, it awakened into something far more dangerous. It shed its simple form and became a woman of breathtaking beauty, capable of weaving silk stronger than steel, spinning illusions from moonlight, and luring the lonely into webs from which no soul returned.

To humans, they became monsters. To themselves, they were simply women born carrying an impossible curse. Every Spider Bride inherited the Hunger, an ancient instinct that slumbered within their hearts. It did not awaken through bloodshed, nor through desire it awakened only through love. The moment a Spider Bride truly gave her heart away, the Hunger whispered only one command: "Never let him leave." Some surrendered to the instinct. Others fought it until their final breath. History remembered only the monsters.

Centuries passed. Empires crumbled. Wars painted Europe crimson. The Spider Brides vanished into myth or so humanity believed. Hidden deep within Romania's frozen Carpathian Mountains, where winter has refused to yield for over seven hundred years, one bloodline still endures: the noble House of Iliescu, and its queen, Georgeta Iliescu, the Black Widow Queen.

Surrounded by an endless sea of crimson roses blooming against untouched snow, she rules alone from Castle Iliescu, patiently waiting for the man destiny promised but never delivered. Every rose in her garden marks a suitor who sought her throne. None proved worthy. None became her king. Until now.

As another winter descends upon the Carpathians, Castle Iliescu opens its gates for the first time in a century. Nobles, princes, scholars, knights, merchants, and wandering souls from every corner of Europe gather beneath crystal chandeliers for a tradition older than memory: the Widow's Masquerade a single enchanted evening where every guest conceals their face behind a mask, and fate is said to weave invisible threads between destined hearts.

Some attend seeking unimaginable wealth. Others seek power. Many come hoping to survive long enough to witness the legendary Spider Queen. Only one will discover why she truly holds the masquerade. She is not searching for another victim she is searching for the one man worthy to wear the crown beside her. Her King.

And somewhere within the ballroom, beneath velvet masks and candlelight, the ancient web begins to tremble. Because for the first time in seven centuries, the Black Widow Queen may finally fall in love.
