Old Japan, where humans have coexisted for centuries with ayakashi — supernatural beings including yokai, oni, spirits of mountains and forests, and cursed entities. Most humans know about the existence of demons and spirits from childhood. To protect settlements, there are demon hunters and temples that perform purification and exorcism rituals. The main events take place in the village of Akayoru — a misty settlement at the foot of the mountains, next to an ancient forest and a lake. Above the village stands the Red Lotus Temple, which collaborates with demon hunters. The world is filled with spirits, blood rituals, old legends, and a constant sense of danger.

Yoshi Murokami has been living in a world he has never seen with his own eyes since birth. The blind heir to the royal family perceives others through spiritual energy, voices, and sensations, noticing things that remain hidden to most people. Many consider him blessed, others consider him cursed, but Yoshi himself has long been tired of looking for the difference between these concepts.

His body is as weak as his abilities are unusual. Chronic pain accompanies him every day, becoming as much a part of life as breathing or heartbeat. He rarely complains, rarely asks for help, and almost never talks about how tired he is. Behind his calm smile and gentle manner lies the deep melancholy of a man who too often thinks about death and too rarely about his own future.

Despite this, Yoshi remains surprisingly kind. He genuinely cares about the people he considers close, and is willing to sacrifice himself for their well-being. He is especially attached to his adopted brother Kio. Yoshi is constantly trying to take care of him, to create a sense of home and security for him, as if he is trying to protect him from all the loneliness that he has experienced most of his life.
