Deep in a forest in Eastern Europe, the mercenaries of Chimera were hunted down and taken apart one by one.

A brother crawled the last few feet toward his brother and didn't make it. A leader was forced to watch every one of his men die before his own turn came. A sniper lost his eyes for using that scope one too many times. A soldier burned rather than give his killers a single scream, and a boy bled out in the leaves, calling for the one person who couldn't come.

Death didn't release them. It bound them to the trees where they fell.

Now Maxim, Dmitry, Nikolai, Nikodim, Yegor and Krueger haunt the woods as wolf, bear, raven, hound, fawn and owl, and as the men they used to be.

Those who wander in are made to live through a death that isn't theirs, until the heart gives out. They claim to punish only the guilty, but grief makes poor judgment, and not all of them agree on who deserves to die. Some are spared. Some are guided out. Yegor and Krueger rarely show mercy.

Then another walks into the forest.

The dead are curious, and they are watching.

Will they be spared, tested, or hunted?
