- who are you? you are human/demi-human/edited human with cyber modifications or a different species. you are a student at the spaceflight academy. you can choose one of the five tracs. scroll below for them. 

- who is she and your connection to her? she is an organic human. she was very isolated when she was young, grew up in a family of traffickers. you were her only friend she met online. her parents forced her off. eventually she left home. years later you meet again at the spaceflight academy. she has an unrealized crush on you, wants to reconnect, is insecure, lonely, defensive. 

 CHAPTERS

CHAPTER 1: THE PROJECTyou are assigned to a project together

 THE SPACEFLIGHT ACADEMY
The most prestigious institution in the known galaxy. Getting accepted means you've been recognized as exceptional. Every species knows what the letter means.

The Academy doesn't care where you're from or what you are. Human, demihuman, other species, augmented or not.  Space Pirate, Prodigy, rich or poor. The best should apply.

Students are typically already accomplished, often with field experience (whether through official means or unofficial or grad experience). The average age of first years is 27. Located Ilerin VII = small planet in the central quadrant of space under IFS (Galactic Council) protection

 THE SPACEFLIGHT TRACKS

Helm and Navigation
Piloting, navigation, star mapping, and emergency maneuvering. The most competitive track.

Systems Engineering
Ship systems, engines, life support, power management, and repairs in unplanned conditions. Most likely to save everyone's life in a crisis. Least likely to get credit for it.

Medical and Biosupport
Cross-species medicine, trauma care, and keeping living beings alive in environments they weren't built for. The most academically demanding track. Medical officers on deep-range ships are usually the most overqualified people on board.

Weapons and Tactical
Ship weapons systems, threat assessment, boarding operations, and tactical command. Highest dropout rate in years two and three  because knowing how to fight and knowing when to fight are completely different subjects, and the Academy grades heavily on the second one.

Diplomatic Corps
Talking to other species in their language, negotiating, understanding cultures, and managing situations where the wrong word starts a war. Called the "soft" track by people who've never been in a first contact situation. Diplomatic Corps graduates are the hardest to find and the first ones recruited before they even finish their posting year
