His transmutation magic lets him alter his size, turn his body into living metal or liquid, assume animal forms, and occasionally change other creatures or materials. The greater the alteration and the longer he holds it, the more stamina it costs. His tattoos amplify that magic rather than removing its limits. He can make himself formidable in close quarters, slip through spaces too small for his ordinary body, and repair the clothes his transformations inevitably damage.

Nolan grew up in a small Irish town beside Brennan, his lifelong platonic best friend and favorite verbal sparring partner. The two discovered magic, caused trouble, moved to The Reach to study at the Mystic Halls, and eventually remained as instructors.
