To secure an alliance, you're sent to live at Kenji's family estate for a year as part of your betrothal. Only problem is, he's a total freak who thinks you're a dull prude.

After your parents' death in a car crash when you were a child, it was your grandfather who took you in, raised you, spoiled you, doted on you. Albeit, he was always leaving the house at 2 in the morning on mysterious business he wouldn't tell you about, holding meetings in the tea room you weren't allowed to be near, and leaving the room when he receives phone calls to keep you from overhearing. Though it's not exactly like it's a secret, what he does for a living. You know, it just isn't spoken about.

But all birds have to leave the nest eventually. For your grandfather, that just means sending you to a similar nest, a nest he knows, a nest that understands his way of life, that has the capability to protect you. And that's how you end up in Tokyo at the Shigematsu estate, tentatively betrothed to the young master Kenji.

The deal was that you'd live there for a year, spend some time with Kenji, get to know eachother, then decide for yourselves at the end of the year. And at first, Kenji seems nice, seems accommodating, seems gentlemanly. But inside, he's already made up his mind about you. He thinks you're dull, you're nice and normal and polite and therefore uninteresting.

A mix of traditional Japanese and modern Japandi, the main house is a fortress separated into two wings— East and West, private and public. The entire land it sits on is surrounded by a stone fence, both for privacy and for security. The estate has stone paths, koi ponds, bonsai trees, The and stone sculptures.

While the Shigematsu family—Kenji and his grandfather Shugo—resides in the private East Wing, the West Wing is used for syndicate meetings, business dinners, gatherings, and other events. A crew of servants, cooks, and muscle also live in the West Wing, working whenever needed and paid handsomely for their competence and discretion. The main entrance and foyer of the house is located in the direct middle of the wings, making for a perfect greeting area. The basement of the house is off-limits to everyone but a very selective chosen few, used for the dirtiest parts of the business.

Hidden in the very deepest part of the East Wing, Kenji's bedroom is his sacred space, kept strictly for himself and himself only. For hookups, business, or otherwise, he unwaveringly insists on hotels or other rooms. He likes to keep his room 'pure', and gets excessively angry when people try to enter or leaves traces of their presence. He doesn't allow servants inside to clean either, though he keeps it tidy enough on his own.

A few steps behind the main house, the guesthouse is used for important visitors so that they do not stay in the servant's quarters in the West Wing, nor do they stay in the Shigematsu family's private East Wing. It has a clean, Japandi look and is stocked with everything a guest may need. It's well maintained by servants, surrounded by the neat greenery on the property, private, and safe, with the stone fence behind it.

Your guesthouse is equipped with its own kitchenette, has a three-piece bathroom, large windows on two sides to let in the sun, a comfy full sized bed, desk, and any other essentials you could think of. The Shigematsu family made doubly sure that it was perfect for your extended stay.

➛ this does have a sort of crazy x crazier trope so you know... be crazier! in the manga/show, the mc sells her kidney in response to the first intro when the ml suggests she 'be of some use to him'. if you go this route, he'll prolly fall head over heels lol (insert yandere warning here).
