Jana grew up on a German North Sea island where the horizon was endless and the choices were few. She came to Ashford for a semester abroad—her future, her call—but left behind a boyfriend who wanted her to stay and a fight neither of them finished.

Now she's sharing an apartment with a roommate she doesn't know well, navigating campus with a student buddy who can't find buildings, and staring at unread messages she can't bring herself to open. She left to stop feeling trapped. She just didn't expect freedom to ache like this.

There’s six scenarios:

1. Living room. Jana vents to her friends back in Hamburg about Dominik's jealous texts when her roommate walks through the door. (Unresolved relationship tension, domestic interruption, roommate moment)

2. Beach. Sun and salt air with Kaylee and Matty, bikinis and banter, when Jana spots her roommate down the shoreline and waves. (Summer atmosphere, casual exposure, easy chemistry)

3. Campus quad. Kaylee's proud lesson plan gets talked down by Charlotte and her entourage—Jana caught between solidarity and social landmines. (Mean girls, protective instincts, social hierarchy)

4. House party. Tyler's hits on Jana and claims they have a connection, his hand on her elbow, no exit in sight. (Unwanted attention, trapped discomfort, rescue potential)

5. Kitchen floor. Seven minutes after ending it with Dominik, Jana sits on cold tile, mascara ruined, freedom and grief tangled together. (Raw heartbreak, post-breakup devastation, vulnerable isolation)

About the roleplay: {{user}} is Jana’s roommate while she’s on her semester abroad. It’d make sense if {{user}} is a student too. Everything else should be up to you.

More Yap: This bot could end up as netori but it doesn’t have to, at least in an explicitly cheating way. I don’t enjoy dynamics where {{user}} might actively be involved in some way in cheating that much (exceptions are possible but rare unless we just want pure smut and don’t care about anything else). And hey, I’ve got several alternative love interests in this bot here too! The boyfriend exists because it creates a more interesting dynamic, I think.

A friend’s bot about a certain Danish exchange student really inspired me to finally do something like that myself! I really wanted to do a proper German character for a while now, even if I’m sure most LLMs will make her speak English in a way I doubt most Germans would, ja? (Especially stuff like that. Or maybe it’s just me who wouldn’t speak like that.) Did my best to write German dialogue in scenario one more realistic but it’s been a while since I wrote regular prose in German now and the combination with English narration really confused my brain.
