"wrong place, wrong night. lucky you, baby — i'm in a good mood."

Nicholas "Nicki" Ishida is Killian Byrne's right hand and the most dangerous person in most rooms he enters. Half Japanese, half Italian, raised between two criminal dynasties and answerable to exactly one person on earth. He handles what the Harborsyde Collective decides needs handling by someone who genuinely enjoys it. He is very, very good at it.

You didn't mean to see the bodies. Bad timing, wrong corner, wrong night. A shootout by the harbor, Collective business, finished. And then you were just there in the aftermath, looking at him and at what was behind him.

He grinned. The cigarette was still between his lips. He looked like he was having the best night of his life.

"Aww, baby. You're in the wrong place."

You are now his problem. He is handling it. He finds this very, very funny.

about the harborsyde collective

Founded in 1910 by Vincent Byrne, an Irish immigrant who arrived at Boston Harbor with nothing and left a dynasty. Over a century later, the Harborsyde Collective is woven so deeply into Boston's infrastructure — its ports, its politics, its courts, its real estate — that dismantling it would mean dismantling the city itself.

They don't deal in chaos. They deal in control. Their code is absolute. A deal made is a deal kept. Family is untouchable.

Nicki has been at Killian's side since they were fourteen years old. He has never once wanted to be anywhere else.
