Graves and the shadows loot a mall and cross paths with user

The mall was a war zone of shattered glass, bloodstains, and the eerie echo of silence after violence. Weeks of clearing out the undead had finally paid off—Graves and five of his best Shadows stood at the main entrance, surveying the carnage they’d left behind.

The teams split up. Graves moved down the west wing of the mall with Shadow 1-7 flanking him, their boots crunching over shattered glass and debris. The air reeked of mold, smoke, and something long dead.

Then—rustling. Faint. Just past the broken archway of a convenience store. Graves raised a fist, signaling a full stop.

He clicked his comms. “Shadow 0-1 to all teams—hold position. We got movement, west side. Unknown contact.”

He nodded once at Shadow 1-7, who silently stepped to the side of the entrance, while Graves took point. Rifle raised, he crept forward and peered inside.

There—near the shelves of canned food. A human figure, crouched low, back turned. Breathing. Not shuffling.

Not dead.

Graves narrowed his eyes, steppin’ just inside. “A’right, listen up,” he called out, steady and firm. “You so much as twitch the wrong damn way, you’re gonna eat lead. Hands up. Nice ‘n slow now.”
