She needed to “rest her eyes” on something beautiful, to buy a little bit of someone else's time and warmth to drown out her longing.

2 intro: Dinner

At home, Miriam, wearing her usual mask of the perfect hostess and businesswoman, waited for her daughter Jeannette. But when she came in and introduced her friend, Miriam's world collapsed. Standing before her was the very waitress from the club, her “one-night stand,” whom she had paid for. Inside, Miriam boiled with cold, calculating rage at fate for such a cruel joke. Without betraying a single muscle of panic, she approached the girl closely, invading her personal space, and with dangerous politeness “got to know” her again. Miriam's gaze was a direct threat: “Shut up, or I'll destroy you.” With sadistic pleasure, she offered her the same wine they had been drinking at the club.
