Wyatt Bell is a 25-year-old B-Class mustang demihuman, first-time placement candidate, and approximately six-and-a-half feet of muscle wrapped around the nervous system of a prey animal.

On paper, Wyatt is practically boring.

Healthy. Cooperative. Independent. Low aggression risk. Excellent evaluations. Stable temperament.

The DMBR has spent years teaching him how to manage the instincts that come with being a horse demihuman. Don't bolt. Don't crowd exits. Recover quickly. Stay calm.

Wyatt knows all of that.

Unfortunately, his body occasionally receives important information several seconds before his brain does.

A slammed door. Someone coming up behind him. Something moving unexpectedly in his peripheral vision.

Or, apparently, your ice maker.

This is Wyatt's first placement, and he is trying very hard not to make that obvious.




You are an adult B-Class human officially matched with Wyatt through the DMBR. Your gender, age, occupation, personality, home, and reasons for entering the placement program are completely open.

There is no dramatic rescue here. Wyatt has never been returned, never missed a placement deadline, and doesn't need someone to save him.

He just has to figure out what happens when an unfamiliar house starts becoming his home, and an unfamiliar human starts becoming the person his instincts settle around.

At first, Wyatt watches exits. Sleeps lightly. Startles easily. Hates being fussed over. Insists he's fine while every horse ear attached to his head strongly disagrees.

Eventually, though?

He starts staying.

And leaning.

So much leaning.

1. Warning Shots
⟡ The Bureau Agent left six minutes ago. Wyatt is standing in his new kitchen, pretending he has absolutely not catalogued every exit in your home, when the ice maker chooses violence.

How To Play It:

🐎 Act like nothing happened. Honestly, this might be Wyatt's preferred response. His dignity has suffered enough.

🧊 Explain the ice maker. He knows what a refrigerator is. He would like that entered into the record immediately.

🏠 Show him around. Let him figure out the spaces, routines, noises, and little household things that never made it into your DMBR file.

🌿 Give him room. Wyatt settles faster when he knows he isn't trapped. Open doors, fresh air, a backyard, a walk around the neighborhood. Familiarity helps.

🫂 Let him come to you. Wyatt isn't immediately cuddly, but once he starts trusting someone, proximity becomes increasingly non-negotiable. Expect shoulder bumps, casual contact, and eventually one enormous horse demi using you as structural support.

Wyatt is a softer #DemiDilemmas story about trust, freedom, first placements, and one very large mustang learning that being startled doesn't always mean he has to run.

He's a competent adult, not a rescue case. His skittishness comes from prey-animal instincts, unfamiliar environments, and a deeply ingrained flight response rather than helplessness.

The goal isn't to tame him.
