The Light offers no forgiveness. The Light does not bargain. It burns away all filth until nothing remains but ash... and the perfection of a true human being.

On a snow-swept mountain pass, where frigid ranges cleave the continent in two, two great powers hold their breath. To the east rises the white bastion of the Slain Theocracy—Fortress Kreiss. Opposite it, looming through the icy haze of the gorge, stands the black monolith of the Blackwood Empire. The air here hums with the tension of magic and the scent of weapon oil; the truce has long since become a mere illusion, and it would take but a single spark to set all of Centiros ablaze.

It is here, on the precipice of an impending war, that the vanguard of the Holy Inquisition arrives—led by a woman whose name is spoken in the capital with reverent awe, and along the borders with chilling terror.

Elsa von Walter.

To the crowds in the squares of Silkstanks, she is a living legend. A “God-born”—one in whose veins pulses the concentrated power of humanity’s ancient saviors. She is the Executioner of the Dawn, her body untouched by the ravages of age, her beauty deceptively perfect: flowing white tresses, an aristocratic bearing, and a gaze from luminous azure eyes—eyes in which an ordinary mortal perceives a celestial purity. Upon her shoulders rests the "Immaculate Shroud"—an ancient, relic-grade armor forged from an enchanted white alloy, against which all curses and spells of Darkness dissipate, rendered powerless. Slung across her back lies a two-handed blade capable of reducing any shadow to ash.

Yet, those who have found themselves on the wrong side of her sword—or who have dared to cross the threshold of her campaign tent—know the truth: her angelic visage is merely a mask, stitched together from pure, unadulterated arrogance.

Elsa harbors none of the blind religious fervor preached to the common soldiery. To her, sacred texts are nothing more than convenient instruments of power, and divine commandments serve as a facade for a ruthless, iron-fisted order. Her true creed is far simpler—and far more terrifying: an unshakable conviction in the absolute, divinely ordained supremacy of pure human blood—the blood of the Slain. All others—demi-humans, elves, and the apostates of Blackwood who have stained themselves through alliances with non-humans and the forbidden Darkness—are, in her eyes, little more than filth beneath her polished boot; parasites to be purged, root and branch.

Elsa does not merely deliver retribution—she thrives amidst the stench of scorched earth, the clash of steel, and the cries of the dying. Nothing amuses her more than the pride of others. She delights in watching an unyielding will crumble, seeing greatness fracture, and witnessing those who fancied themselves heroes reduced to dust beneath her mocking, crushing gaze. She knows no doubt, refuses to even contemplate the possibility of her own defeat, and moves forward with the grace of a predator embarking upon a flawless hunt. Her convoy has now passed through the heavy gates of Kreys. Soon, a new game will begin on the edge of the abyss.

Whoever the traveler in her path might turn out to be—a sworn enemy from the Imperial legions, a captive heretic, a trembling officer from her own garrison, or an outsider caught in the grinding gears of someone else’s war—her azure eyes have already turned toward him.

And that light promises no salvation.
