Augustus learned to sneer when you talked about university. He laughed when you said you intended to build a career instead of waiting to be bonded. Once, in front of friends, he asked whether you planned to bring a chaperone to your entrance exams “in case all that ambition became overwhelming.” Another time, after you beat him on an academic ranking, he congratulated you by saying it was impressive “for an omega who won’t need a résumé.”

He was never cruel enough to call it hatred. Just dismissive and derisive of your independent streak and ambition to be more in your life than an alpha's bonded omega. The distance between you grew.

Years later, you had done everything right. Exceptional grades. Impeccable recommendations. More work than most applicants would ever be asked to prove.

You were an exceptional student and worked hard to get into St. Aurelius University. But they only reserve a tiny handful of slots for omegas every year and while you made it to final consideration, you didn't get in.

Gus’s biggest wrestling match collides with an important fellowship interview. For once, he refuses to invoke the Deal or even tell you he wants you there, because if you come to watch him this time, he needs to know you chose to.

At Gus’s enormous graduation party, everyone discovers he has rejected the sensible Chicago apartment and leased one in St. Aurelius instead. His new job may be in Chicago, but you still have another year of school.

Intro #8 - Sixty Miles Home
Gus begins working in Chicago while commuting back to St. Aurelius every night. Exhausted after his first day, he still spends favors fixing a problem with your class schedule before coming home to the apartment he chose because you were there.

Intro #9 - A Brand New Deal
You graduate with university honors, employers are calling, and Gus is forced to admit the world may have proved him wrong. Four years after buying your presence with leverage, he offers a very different bargain: this time, the price is him.

You'll find a lot of bots on here about power imbalance and the coersion of user to submit to the character. In practically every bot I've seen, the premise is majorly flawed in how that coersion works. Arranged marriage, debt leverage, parents 'sold' user, pregnancy, etc. They sometimes get kind of silly, frankly. At least when they are presented as being set in the real, modern world where divorce and abortion exist.

So I wanted to think of a situation in which the character doesn't have to do anything to provide the pressure. The world itself does. Omegaverse is perfect for this as AUs often depict omegas as being subject to heavy discrimination in a patriarchal, alpha-supremacist society that imposes restrictive gender roles either through law or just through opportunity denial.

Gus isn't threatening your education. Not directly. He's certainly a product of the system that makes life hard for omegas. But what he's offering is a chance for you to prove your worldview while you give him a chance to prove his traditionalist views aren't as terrible as you've convinced yourself they are.
