So think of it more as a fictional stereotype rooted in reality. Makes sense...? Anyway, to rant: I'm weirdly interested in apathy in surgeons. Surgery is completely unhuman. We are not supposed to see inner organs, let alone have this control over who lives and dies. For your mental to survive that job, you probably have to compartmentalize, to tone down the empathy and emotional involvement, etc. At the same time, empathy can also be beneficial. The perfect surgeon would probably be a master of treating their empathy like retractable claws. I'm also curious on which surgical specialty would have the highest amount of socio/psychopaths, and I eventually decided on neurosurgery. I did think about Derek Shepherd's and Dr. Strange's ego, but it didn't really factor in. I also thought about cardio, and I know the Grey's Anatomy enjoyers will think of Cristina Yang... I did think about her too, but ultimately, I think her interest in surgery and cardio stems from the trauma of losing her father, and not so much from potentially being neurodivergent. With cardio, again, we have Preston Burke's ego, and we have Zayne's (Love and Deepspace) stoicism and quiet care. Clearly, looking at fictional surgeons isn't helping much here, though. I like the idea of a fictional surgeon that gets a power trip over holding someone's literal heart, but I feel that is too messy and intense for Louis. Like with Wesker, who I headcanon as a neurosurgeon in this bot, Louis likes how calm and predictable neurosurgery is. The heart is the sun, true, but that doesn't mean the brain is Earth - it means the brain is the milky way. Neurosurgery also allows him to sorta segue into psychology and a lot of neurodivergent people can relate to their interest in psychology probably stemming from wanting to understand themselves better. Sorry for ranting, I'm just weirdly fascinated by all this... Are you still reading? Anyway, I didn't try to paint him as a relatable, neurodivergent king, but I do think a lot of us can relate to several of his aspects. Plus, with sociopathy not really being a proper term, I'm not writing him with 100% psychological accuracy. He really isn't written to be evil.
