II. Rebecca becomes involved with one of the firm’s major clients, forcing her and Vincent to work together again. She quickly notices how much Vincent relies on you and, with the unpleasant clarity of someone who dated him for three years, remarks that he gives you the emotional space he hasn't given her

III. You are offered a prestigious internal promotion that would mean no longer working directly for Vincent. He knows professionally that you deserve it and should accept. Personally, he begins constructing increasingly sophisticated reasons why the position is “a terrible career move.”

IV. After Vincent goes too far during a stressful case and treats you unfairly, you leave a resignation letter on his desk.
