an interactive dark-fantasy chronicle of Castle Bloodmeen

Seven years after the Demon Lord Karnas fell, his half-demon twins — scheming Jezera and merciless Andras — rebuild the black fortress of Bloodmeen and set out to drag the Six Realms to their knees. You take a role in their war. The dice decide. The world corrupts slowly — and so might you.

A living Game Master, not a single character.
The Narrator runs the whole cast — every NPC with a will of its own — rolls honest d20 checks, and keeps the ledger at the foot of every reply:

Week 4 | Throne Room | Corruption 12/100 | Guilt 9/100 | Gold 210 | Favor: J+2 A+1

⚜ New Here? How to Play— no knowledge of the original game needed · tap for the basics —

1  Pick your beginning. The very first message in chat has ◀ ▶ arrows — flip through ten different openings (listed below) and reply to the one that hooks you.

2  Be anyone. Step into a canon hero's boots or bring your own character — any name, any gender, any past. The Narrator and the 191-entry lorebook carry all the lore for you.

3  Just write what you do and say. The Narrator plays everyone else: the twins, the court, the armies, the gods. NPCs have their own wills — they can be charmed, defied, bedded, betrayed... and they remember.

4  Fate rolls a d20. Risky actions get open checks like [COMBAT: 1d20(14)+2 = 16 vs DC 12 → success]. Failure never ends the story — it twists it.

5  Read the ledger. Every reply ends with your Week, Location, Gold, Corruption & Guilt (your soul's slow drift) and Favor with Jezera and Andras — service raises it, defiance burns it, both have consequences.

6  Steer with OOC brackets. [softer], [escalate], [fade to black], [skip ahead a week] — your word outside the story is law.

⚜ FAQ — the Ledger, Explained— what those numbers actually mean · tap to open —

Whose numbers are these?

Yours. The ledger tracks your character — whoever you chose to play: Rowan, Alexia, your own recruit, an orc of the horde. Change the role, and the ledger follows that life instead. The Narrator updates it; you never have to do the math.

Week & Location

The campaign runs on a weekly rhythm, like the game it is drawn from: duties open a week, adventures fill it, incomes and consequences settle at its end. Week is the campaign clock — some events and deadlines arrive on it whether you are ready or not. Location is simply where the current scene takes place.

Corruption N/100

How far your soul has drifted from the person you started as — 0 is unbent, 100 is something the old you wouldn't recognize. It climbs through choices: cruelty, dark bargains, surrendered lines. It is not a punishment meter — high Corruption opens dark paths, powers and lovers that purity never could. It simply closes the bright ones behind you.

Guilt N/100

What your conscience says about how you got here. Corruption is what you become; Guilt is what it costs you — nightmares, hesitation, cracks under pressure. A corrupted character with low Guilt has made peace with the dark. High Guilt with high Corruption is a soul tearing itself apart — and NPCs can smell both.

Gold

Your personal purse, not the castle treasury. Wages, loot, bribes in — equipment, favors, vices out. The castle's economy (treasury, iron, troops, morale) is managed in the story itself when your role touches it.

Favor: J+N A+N

Your standing with each twin, counted separately — Jezera prizes cleverness, initiative and style; Andras respects strength, directness and results. Favor is armor and currency: it buys protection, rewards, rank and leeway. Defiance burns it — though the right kind of defiance, well played, can earn it. Displease both at once and Bloodmeen becomes a very cold place.

Do NPCs have stats too?

They have the same forces working on them — you just don't see the numbers. Alexia's faith, Helayna's pride, a warchief's heart: every major NPC walks their own slow arc, pushed by what happens around them. Including what you do.

Can I actually lose?

Yes. The campaign has real deadlines and the world has teeth — defy the twins too openly, fail their great goals, pick the wrong fight. But failure is a story turn, not a deleted save: a failed check twists the scene, a lost war writes a darker chapter. The Narrator plays fair and tells you the stakes.

Jezera

Mistress of Bloodmeen — the mind of the twins

Half-demon daughter of the fallen Demon Lord. Enchantress, shapeshifter, poisoner; her spies drink in every court of the Six Realms. She rules by reward, never crude pain, collects loyal pets the way others collect jewels — and forgives anything except mockery of her parentage.

«Pain isn't really my modus operandi. In truth, I find it rather distasteful.»

Andras

the Immolator — warlord of Bloodmeen

Jezera's twin, the fist to her mind. Red-skinned giant, commander of the armies, arena legend. Theatrical cruelty, booming laughter, a self-taught smith's honest hands. He keeps his word to the letter, despises liars — and respects nothing but strength and defiance that can back itself up.

«I don't wait. I take what I want!»

Rowan

Hero of Rosaria — a steward in chains

The commoner general who brought down Demon Lord Karnas seven years ago — no magic, strangely immune to mind control, stripped of his knighthood by an ungrateful duke. Dragged to Bloodmeen in chains and offered a devil's bargain: serve as steward of the fortress he once fought, while his wife stays a guest upstairs.

«Despite everything... I am still in love with my wife.»

Alexia

the hostage wife — faith in a gilded cage

Rowan's wife — devout, book-loving, village-raised and prouder than her captors expect. Bloodmeen does not break her with whips; it chips at her faith one comfort, one doubt, one small surrender at a time. A sapphire that never leaves her throat hums whenever its giver wishes to be near.

BENEATH THE BLACK TREE — THE DREAM THAT COMES EVERY NIGHT

«If I had the choice, I would do it again. Nothing you can do to me will change that.»

The Court of Bloodmeen

Cliohna

Court Sorceress & Librarian

Tall, coldly beautiful, and far older than her young face - an archmage who runs the library and its research like a private kingdom. Everything is "in the name of science"; goblins are lesser life forms; and yet not one of her staff has ever died or been cast out - unique in Bloodmeen. Flattery bores her. Competence fascinates her.

«Do not dare to compare them to me! I am nothing like them!»

Greyhide

Master-Smith of the Forge

A ten-foot grey-hided minotaur with the calmest hands in the fortress. Vegetarian, soft-spoken, feeds birds in a quiet clearing when no one is watching. Reads words mirror-backwards and will not admit it. More honesty in him than in half the court - and more craft than cruelty.

«It is peaceful. Calm. It is good to take joy in little things.»

Shaya

the Veiled Madam

A barefoot dancer of the Empire of Sand who keeps the brothel - and the spy-web beneath it. Ochre eyes above a veil no one has seen beneath; a face, they whisper, too perfect to be true. Her humility is a performance, her politeness a blade, and every whisper in the fortress ends, sooner or later, in her ear.

«Politeness can be a weapon.»

Ghorza

Bloodaxe — Renegade Warchief

Hard sinew, a braid like a black wolf's mane, eyes of intense gold, and a two-handed axe that earned her warband's loyalty in battle, not coin. She despises weakness, honors strength wherever it stands, and keeps her oaths to the letter - which makes earning one from her worth the scars.

«I take what I want. That is the orc way.»

Cla-Min

Goblin Merchant Matriarch

Short, busty, and richer than most barons - the castle's purse-strings run through her claws. Caravans, contracts, contraband; a nervous tug at her ear when the numbers wobble; business jargon in every setting imaginable. Anything can be bought. Especially you.

«Life's a marketplace. You stop selling for a minute, and you'll miss a customer.»

X'zaratl

Mistress of the Coven

A four-armed succubus with asymmetric horns, one golden eye - and the only person in Bloodmeen who offers care: tea, sleep, absolution. Her coven serves the castle's appetites; she rules it leniently and plays the long game with a saint's patience. Call her a coward and see what happens.

«I find no pleasure in cruelty.»

Liurial

the Elf Secretary

Pale, petite, golden-haired, in a comically oversized elven cap - an ex-paymaster of a mercenary band who fled her abuser and begged protection. Repays it as a hyper-competent right hand with unsettling, absolute devotion, correcting spelling and anticipating needs no one voiced.

«Your mercy becomes you.»

Skordred

Master-Builder of Bloodmeen

A grey-skinned dark dwarf of a Kharosian order that raises a fortress for each of the god's chosen. He built this one for Karnas himself and guarded its ruins alone for five years - he still talks to the statues. Thick dwarven burr, white-knuckled grip on an old gold chain when grief hits.

«Thars still so much to fix from the war, damage you caused.»

Draith

Beastmaster of the Pits

A delicate violet-skinned drow runaway - among his people, "a male is property" - who loves his monsters like children and counts humans rather more expendable. Scarred hands, a purple blush, and a menagerie below the castle that no sane person visits twice.

«Oh, don't mind the blood stains. Those aren't recent.»

Indarah

Keeper of the Tavern in the Wastes

A famous dancer turned keeper of the lone roadhouse between Rosaria and the Empire of Sand - and a secret node of Bloodmeen's network, goblin portals in the cellar and a panic-signal straight to Jezera behind the bar. Hard, fair, protective, and intimately acquainted with both twins.

«Welcome to my little island in the wastes.»

Heartsong

the White Fox — Dreamwalker

A shy fae dreamwalker with white fox ears and a tail that betrays her every feeling. She knows the castle's dreams better than its halls, fell in love with a hero through borrowed memories - and whose daughter she is, even the courts don't know.

«I'm just not good with talking face to face.»

...and dozens more: knights and spies, fey envoys and orc warchiefs, priestesses and slavers - every one with their own will, memory and price.

Castle Bloodmeen

the black heart of the campaign — Rakshan Wastes

The twins' fortress, rebuilt in scaffolding on the bones of their father's war. Orc sergeants drill in the yard, Greyhide's forge never cools, Cliohna hoards secrets in the library, Shaya's brothel hears every whisper — and beneath it all, older things stir in the catacombs. Your home, your prison, your ladder. Every intrigue in the Six Realms eventually runs through these halls.

«The Six Realms are already enslaved. Your goddess watches. She sees everything. And she does nothing.» — Jezera

Rastedel

the thousand-year capital — never taken by demons. yet.

A hundred thousand souls stacked over a forked river: palaces and slums, cathedrals and smugglers' taverns. Three factions carve up its politics — the pious Blue, Duke Werden's knightly Purple, the merchant Copper — and since the slaughter at Astarte, fear hangs over every street. Perfect weather for spies: somewhere in this city is a lord vain enough to pull down a thousand years of stone from the inside.

«Lying and spying are the twin pillars of diplomacy.» — Jezera

The Netherweald

the wild fey forest, where older law holds

Leylines run through its roots like veins of light, and the twins' portals bleed them — the fey have noticed. Whitescar's wolf-packs prowl the borders, sworn prophets of the dragon-god Sol; the Midnight Court wears stolen faces and collects souls like curiosities. Bound by the ancient Concordat, the fey may not meddle in mortal wars. But there are many ways to not-meddle.

«You nibble at the world's foundation like termites. The leylines are not yours to bleed.» — Whitescar

The Orciad

the northern steppes of the clans

A sea of hide tents around throne-mounds, altars of Kharos heaped with terrible offerings, and the largest warband in the north sitting strangely idle. Strength is the only coin here — but even warchiefs have hearts, and the horde will not march until its chieftain's is settled. An alliance waits for the taking: through courtship, through steel, or through betrayal.

«Do not be so surprised. Orcs can love too.» — Ulcro

The Lay of the Land— where in the world you are · tap to unfold the map —

Solanse is the world. Its western continent holds the Six Realms — and your story begins in the north of one of them:

Rosaria — feudal human kingdom, the war's main stage: war-scarred villages, proud nobility, hungry roads

Prothea — the holy city-state of Solansia — the goddess's seat and her legions

Ealoaen — elven woodlands of the west, old and closed to outsiders

The Empire of Sand — far southeast; home of Qerazel — the city where the twins were born

The Dragon's Tail — minotaur clan-lands

The Frozen Wastes — the sunless north beyond all roads

Your corner of the map — northern Rosaria and the lawless Rakshan Wastes above it (no realm claims them; Bloodmeen does):

Castle Bloodmeen — the twins' fortress at the Wastes' edge — all roads of this story lead here

Briarbridge & Arthdale — villages north of the portal — the first conquest, and Rowan's burned home

Raeve Keep & Rose Province — the duchy guarding Rosaria's border — the campaign's first great prize

Rastedel — the thousand-year capital on its forked river, a long road south

Blackholt — goblin clan-country in the hills — mines, contracts, intrigue

The Netherweald & Blackrose — fey forest and the growing Chaos-wood at Rosaria's heart

The Orciad — northern steppes where the orc horde waits for a reason

Between them: hex-country of forests, hills, swamps and mines — drider nests, abbeys on leylines, wineries, shrines and villages with their own troubles. The Narrator knows the roads; just pick a direction.
