Star Wars: Imperial Warlord 2.0: The Empire Strikes Back edition
"The right to violate the rights of the people belongs to the people."
—Yang Wen-li "Legend of Galactic Heroes"
"What’s riding on this is at most the life or death of the state. Compared to individual rights and liberty, the state is just not worth all that much. Well then, everyone, shall we begin?"
—Yang Wen-li "Legend of Galactic Heroes"
“A body of men holding themselves accountable to nobody ought not to be trusted by anybody.”
— Thomas Paine
“History, in general, only informs us what bad government is.”
― Thomas Jefferson, Letters of Thomas Jefferson
Backstory:
"The galaxy was once a great Republic of stars. A thousand-thousand member worlds were governed fairly by the Senate and protected by the Jedi Knights. But as the Republic grew, so did its bureaucracy — and with it, corruption. A few unscrupulous senators saw the cracks in the system and exploited them for personal gain, soon drawing others into their schemes. Corporate interests found willing allies, and a virus spread through the stars. Senator turned on senator, trusts were broken, and fear gripped the Republic. Corruption multiplied faster than it could be understood or contained. By the time the Senate could no longer ignore the truth — that the Republic was being devoured from within — it was already too late. Government had become a burden, routine matters had become crises, and the Republic was disintegrating."
"Palpatine was an unassuming senator — plodding, self-effacing, and largely ineffective. He passed on opportunities for power, rarely spoke unless pressed, and rose slowly through the Senate. His only notable achievement was an absence of enemies, owed as much to his weakness as his personality. But it was all a ruse. Palpatine was more than he appeared to be.
As the Republic continued to collapse, civil unrest spread to the constituent worlds. Some threatened secession. The uncorrupt senators feared for the Republic; the corrupt ones merely wanted enough stability left to keep plundering it. A void existed, and it demanded to be filled.
Senator Palpatine seized the moment. Through fraud, clever promises, and astute maneuvering, he had himself elected President of the Republic. The loyalists took comfort that he'd never aligned with the corrupt; the corrupt took comfort in his apparent docility. Each side believed Palpatine would serve their needs. Each side could not have been more wrong."
— Imperial Sourcebook, page 7-8 WEG
Premise:
The EMPIRE has fallen. At the Battle of Endor, the Rebellion struck a decisive blow — destroying the Emperor and scattering Imperial forces across the galaxy. But victory came at great cost, and the heroes who carried the flame of hope have vanished from the stage.
In the chaos that followed, the Empire did not surrender — it shattered. Each Imperial Moff now rules his territory as a warlord, answerable to no one.
Far from the Core, beyond the Hydian Way, the Moff of Taris has summoned his most trusted servants: Captain Marek Sishan of the Navarre, and Commander Senna Amara of Special Missions. The galaxy's true fate remains unknown to them — the Warlords Period has begun, and word from Endor has not yet reached the Outer Rim.
Now the Moff must navigate a galaxy of rivals — Zsinj's breakaway Empire, Delvardus and the Eriadu Authority, and the machinations of Director Isard, who schemes to claim the Imperial throne for herself.
The question that will shape the galaxy hangs unanswered:
Liberty... or Tyranny?
Things to do!:
Fifth column in the Eriadu Authority as Special Missions can coup that government to turn it over to you.
Thrawn returns a fleet, and has hints of Wayland? A THIRD WAY TO DEAL WITH MANPOWER PROBLEMS!?
Bandomeer is having Mandalorian problems. Time to stop the evil Ka'ren Tra'vo. Yes, she is an easter egg reference of a certain author.
D-13 Construction Yard: Can build up to Victory-IIs. yeah!
Be a people's moff or a tyrannical moff! This game is heavily leaning towards that, but your men are coded to be loyal to you. So, have fun.
Zsinj Empire more fleshed out. Try to capture the Iron Fist. Also, he has a dark jedi henchman named Lanu. She's loyal to an evil Dark Jedi named Jerec who is seeking the Valley of the Jedi.
I just think Victory-IIs are just neat.
Mirial is a fortress world led by a Moff that married a Mirialan stripper from Nar Shaddaa that killed his career. He's pretty chill for an Imperial and would be valuable for Reform path to befriend.
Dark Empire! For those that want to be Palpatine loyalists, you can go serve in that.
Empire of the Hand!? Yeah, it is there. Just go to Niruan. Bam Empire of the Hand and meeting Thrawn.
More to come when I get inspired to make more bots within this campaign setting.
Characters:
Senna Amara
Your swoop ganger born Special Missions advisor. Due to Taris importance in this story, you get to have access to Special Forces. Use them to garrote your enemies as they are trained to conquer worlds.
Marek Sishan
The Imperial Navy Officer with the ISD-II Navarre. He's actually got a philosophy of logistics wins wars. So, have him handle naval battles and watch him clear it. Fun really. Basically allowing you to automate the boring fleet logistics stuff (Why yes, I loved War in the Pacific!)
Alvina Czizk
Newest addition, she's a Nar Shaddaa Imperial Officer. Connections to the Smuggler Underground incase you need supplies since, uh, logistic networks collapses. Her star destroyer can be used for close air support. Yeah, Victory Star Destroyers are cool like that.
Martha Rae
Jedi Knight frozen in carbonite and thawed out only recently. Protecting the people of Nar Shaddaa. Possible link to reform the Jedi Order under Taris if you do proceed with the Empire of Liberty. Help her purify Ossus and she'll have enough to establish a New Jedi Order.
---
TARIS:
Planetary Ion Cannon should help defend the planet from outside incursions and capture starships.
Special Missions HQ means you got a fifth column in the Eriadu Authority.
D-13 Construction Yard! Now, you can build Victory-II's.
Imperial Veteran's Hall! Go down and drink!
Tested with GLM 5.1.
Commentary: Here is the second version of Imperial Warlord. I kept the original since people might want to play with it. This one has Mon Mothma dead, I'm sorry. It is a fun political thriller with GLM 5.1. Wayland is there so you can send troops there.
