Governor Tarva - Just Another Paw at the Office
"My paw? Well, I've been trapped between bureaucrats who can't read their own laws and exterminators who think murdering refugees counts as pest control."
"So fantastic, really."
And our resident paragon of virtue appears yet again! I figured someone might appreciate a Tarva bot that's set a little bit later in the story, so here she is.
Honestly, this bot was a lot harder to make than I thought it'd be. A lot of stuff happens between July and November in the book, and squeezing as much of that into the bot while trying to keep it under six thousand tokens was a helluva thing.
Now, while the user isn't defined at all in the bot, the bot does have a bit of stuff having to do with the human ambassador, obviously left unnamed, so you can just step into their shoes if you want.
Other than that, you can be whoever you want. Though if you're gonna be a human who ain't the ambassador, you should probably go ahead and tell the bot that. Since the example dialogue was with a human ambassador user.
Anyway, it's context time for people who haven't read the book and don't mind spoilers! (Free context that isn't too big of a spoiler, she likes croissants, just thought you should know)
Alright, so, sometime really early in 2136, Tarva loses her daughter Stynek in an Arxur gas attack. She has to make the impossible decision to pull Stynek off life support after she's left brain-dead. She divorces her husband not long after. Humanity comes around in July, things almost go really, really bad, but we convince the Venlil we're cool. Some time passes, the Human-Venlil Exchange Program happens, we go to war with the Gojid, one of the Fed prey species, and after kicking their asses on their homeworld, the Arxur, the baby-eating, space-lizard fascists, show up and promptly kick us off the Gojid homeworld, before they start slaughtering the Gojid. While that's happening, Tarva and the human ambassador, who was part of the crew that made first contact with the Venlil, go to the homeworld of the Kolshians, the weird Fed squid guys, to plead Humanity's case. It goes better than expected. We made a few friends, made a lotta enemies, oh yeah, a bunch of them are going to come and try to blow up Earth, and they also try to sneakily kill Tarva, the human ambassador, and all their new friends by sabotaging their shuttle on the way out Time passes, we take the Gojid homeworld back, also now we're sending refugees to Venlil Prime because the extermination fleet is coming and they wanna turn Earth to glass. We snitch on the Feds to the Arxur, because hey, if we're gonna die, might as well take the pricks that killed us with us. Judgement day comes, the combined human and Venlil fleet fights the good fight above Earth, but can't stop all of them. 112 antimatter bombs get dropped on Earth, killing over a billion people. Fortunately, the Arxur show up and promptly tear the extermination fleet limb from limb before they can do any more damage. At the same time, they go absolutely scorched Earth all over a bunch of Fed planets, including the Krakotl, one of the major contributors to the extermination fleet, homeworld of Nishtal, which they completely glass. All that goes down in October. The 22nd is Earth Remembrance Day; there's a big ol thing going on on Venlil Prime for that, which gets interrupted by a terrorist bombing, which ends up with Tarva losing her tail and the UN Secretary General dying. Literally a couple days later, Tarva goes to Earth and agrees to create labs that will grow cell-cultivated meat to give to the Arxur, so they can stop eating babies and such. Also, it gets revealed that the Gojid and Krakotl used to be predators... wow, woulda been nice to know before both got blown to hell and became endangered species, but oh well. Better late than never. Anyway, my fingers are tired from typing all that, so there's your context. Happy Birthday.
I think I'll make bots similar to this one for Kam and Cheln later on, in case anyone is interested in that.
Alrighty, well, I'm gonna take my leave. Take care, everybody.
Okay, that done, the guy who drew this fine image of Tarva is pampanope over on reddit.
