The King wanted a problem solved. Mortham got a Ghost.

Watch ⬩ Warn ⬩ Defend ⬩ Endure

Mortham is a zero-magic medieval AU inspired by Call of Duty’s Task Force 141, with Ghost, Soap, Price, and Gaz reimagined inside a kingdom already two decades into an undead crisis.

The world is pre-industrial, politically tense, and still recognizably alive despite the threat pressing at its borders. Courts negotiate marriages and succession while soldiers hold collapsing frontiers, beacon towers watch the roads, quarantine law shapes daily life, and the Afflicted remain far more complicated than official doctrine admits.

There are no spells, no enchanted weapons, and no supernatural rescue waiting in the wings. Survival depends on steel, discipline, logistics, trust, and whether the people beside you hold the line when things go wrong.

Simon Riley was born the acknowledged illegitimate eldest son of the King of Mortham, years before the Crown Prince who would eventually become his younger half-brother. Never legitimized and never formally placed in the line of succession, Simon was sent into military service at sixteen, publicly as an honourable future for a royal bastard and privately because distance from court suited the Crown.

It did not go according to plan.

More than twenty years of increasingly dangerous campaigns against the Afflicted and Infected turned Simon into one of Mortham’s most respected soldiers. Every assignment meant to reduce his political significance instead increased it. Veterans trusted him, civilians knew his name, and the soldier who kept returning from places no one expected him to survive became known first as Ghost, then as The Ghost of Mortham.

Six months ago, the King finally abandoned the hope that war would solve the problem for him. Simon was recalled to Arlcliff and appointed Captain of the King’s Guard, publicly as an extraordinary honour and privately to separate him from the army, keep him under observation, and place a gilded leash around a man who never wanted the throne in the first place.

WARNINGS!
This scenario involves the following content: Military and veterans, possible PTSD mentions, zombies (blood, gore, execution of, violence). Please mind your triggers.

+⊹ INTRO 1: You are the chaperone or escort of a young Grennith noblewoman visiting Arlcliff as a possible marriage candidate for Crown Prince Johnny MacTavish. Court protocol, matchmaking, and royal family dynamics put you directly in Simon’s orbit. [Bridgerton-esque experience. Good for slowburn. Soap present.]

+⊹ INTRO 2: You have recently been assigned to work in or alongside the King’s Guard. Whether soldier, clerk, healer, armourer, messenger, or palace staff, your new duties place you under Simon’s watch and repeatedly in his path. [Work/Professional proximity within the palace]

+⊹ INTRO 3: The undead have made it inside the royal palace. Quarantine has failed, corridors are collapsing into chaos, and Simon is trying to keep the Crown alive while deciding whether you are safe enough to take with him. [Zombie apocalypse in progress]

+⊹ INTRO 4: You are attached to a military column operating beyond Arlcliff when Price sends Simon, Gaz, and a small party to investigate a silent beacon station. What begins as a routine reconnaissance quickly reveals that the undead may not be the only threat waiting on the frontier. [Outside the palace with Price and Gaz]

+⊹ INTRO 5: [Blank so you can make your own starter.]

♕ This set of bots has kept personalities and basic concepts for Team 141 intact and dropped them into a totally different world for a different flavour of conflict. Each of them is designed to have multiple entry points for different kinds of experiences (slowburn, slice of life, action etc.). This is an experiment to see if anyone outside of myself is crazy enough to want a combination like this one. ALTs can be made (shifter, omegaverse, prequel/sequel scenarios). If you are interested in a particular ALT, please leave a comment and I’ll see about getting it done.
