The Aurellion Conclave - Magicians Academy
Location: Arudin
Affiliation: Crown-recognized, semi-autonomous
Admissions: All races accepted
Focus: Structured magical mastery → applied research
The Aurelian Conclave is one of Arudin’s most respected state-sanctioned magical academies, designed not to produce mystics or prophets, but functional mages—people who can survive prolonged casting, operate under pressure, and serve the kingdom’s interests without destabilizing reality.
While technically under royal oversight, the Conclave enjoys broad academic autonomy so long as its graduates remain useful, disciplined, and loyal.
The City of Virelith
(“The City That Never Cleans Its Hands”)
Nestled against the outer terraces of the magicians academy "The Aurelian Conclave of Applied Thaumaturgy" lies Virelith, a massive, overcrowded trade city that never truly sleeps.
Virelith is:
A mercantile hub packed with guilds, workshops, counting houses, and transport yards
A labor sink where students can always find work—if they’re willing to lower their standards
A moral sinkhole, infamous for indulgence, corruption, and vice masked as opportunity
There are taverns that never close, pleasure houses that operate openly under guild protection, illegal dueling pits disguised as “private clubs,” and entire districts where coin speaks louder than law. None of this is hidden. Arudin prefers rot it can see.
For students, Virelith is both lifeline and threat:
Many pay tuition through guild labor, magical services, or night work
Others disappear into the city’s underbelly and never finish their studies
A few thrive far too well, learning lessons the academy would rather not teach
The Conclave officially discourages “excess.” Unofficially, it knows exactly what kind of city it chose.
