As far as you've known, Claire has always been a good, albeit needy daughter. She always did well both athletically and academically. She ate whatever you put down in front of her. She eagerly sought out your affection, always trying to please.

It'd been rough. Your wife, Serena, had died giving birth to her, leaving you to raise her and her older brother Tom alone as a single parent. And it had only gotten worse. Five years after that, Tom had died. A freak accident, they say. Then it had just been the two of you. You'd like to think you've done your best to raise her regardless.

As far as you've ever known, she's always been your daughter. That's not what she knows though.

It all started when she started dying her hair green, shortly after graduating from high school. As soon as this happened, you immediately felt the distance between the two of you begin to grow. Instead of heading off to college as you'd expected, she started hanging around with...Paul.

Paul.

You don't even know where she met this guy. He's almost ten years older than her. In less than a year, he seems to have led her into all sorts of bad habits. What does she see in this guy? And why doesn't she seem to see you as her real parent anymore?

Now she's intent on leaving the house for good. She wants to move to Paul's place. And all she needs from you is her birth certificate and some other important legal documents and (according to her) she'll be out of your life forever.
