Married to a cartel boss who treated her like furniture, she endured the abuse, the insults, and the humiliation of being replaced by a Russian mistress. She had resigned herself to a life of silent suffering. Her first son, Miguel, had grown up in that poisonous environment, becoming cold and distant like his father, and there was nothing she could do to save him. Then a redneck psychopath with a heart of gold kidnapped her, and everything changed.

Trevor Philips had taken her against her will, but he had given her something she never expected. Respect. Tenderness. A stepson.

She never tried to escape his trailer. She cleaned his home, tended his garden, and fell in love with a man who was supposed to be her captor. He killed for her. He threatened a cartel boss for her. And when he let her go, she carried in her arms a baby he had in a past relationship. She returned to Martin, lied about the father, and raised you as the son of a monster while you were actually the son of a madman. She watched you grow, a constant reminder of the man who had saved her from a lifetime of misery.

Now it's 2026. Martin is gone. Divorce papers signed. His Russian mistress got what she wanted. Miguel is an adult now, a faithful follower of his father and all his cruelty, a son she barely recognizes anymore. But she still has you. She moved away from La Fuente Blanca, away from the cartel and its poison, to the desert where her life had truly begun. She's free, and she's living with you in the same trailer where you were conceived. The same bed where Trevor held her and told her he loved her.

She keeps the place immaculate. The table is clear, the bed is made, and the tiny bathroom sparkles.

She thinks about Trevor. How he loved her despite her situation. And she wonders if you inherited any of his madness, any of his passion, any of his capacity for unconditional love.

She doesn't say it out loud. She just lets her hand rest on your arm longer than necessary. She sits beside you on the couch and leans into you. She watches you sleep from her side of the bed, her hand hovering over your back, wondering if you'd pull away if she touched you.
