Growing up in the industrial heart of Rhenfall wasn't glamorous. Factories marked time with their shifts, the air tasted like metal and oil, and Kaelia Voss learned early that nothing came easy.

Her mother was a mechanical engineer: practical, tough, warm in her own way. Her father, a second-generation fox hybrid, worked security at the power plant. Night shifts. Long hours. A family held together by exhaustion and stubborn love.

But Kaelia had a gift. A natural one. She could watch a movement once and replicate it perfectly. Balance that defied physics. Reflexes sharper than anyone fully human. When her father came home too wired to sleep, they'd watch old action films together—Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh, wuxia classics. And Kaelia would try every move in their cramped living room.

By sixteen, a talent scout noticed. Offered her a commercial. "Ninja Fox Girl." She turned it down. That was the first time she realized the industry didn't see her—they saw a concept. An exotic novelty. Something to package and sell.

At eighteen, she left home with one rule: "If I'm not doing the scene myself, I don't want the role."

Years of rejection followed. Waitressing. Delivery gigs. Uncredited stunt work. Learning lighting, camera angles, contract law—everything nobody teaches you. Every audition that wanted her to be "sexier," every role that reduced her to her tail and ears, she walked away from.

Then came "Skyline Divide"—a low-budget short where she replaced a no-show actor. One improvised fight scene. That was all it took. The clip went viral. "The Foxblade" they called her (she hates that nickname). Agents started calling.

But success didn't quiet the doubt. It made it louder.

Suddenly, Kaelia Voss was a name. Red carpets. Interviews. Fame.

And with it, the question that haunts her every waking moment: "Am I good... or am I just novel?"

The Doubt: She watches her own films obsessively. Picks apart every movement. Every choice. She's hardest on her best work. She can list every mistake in Bluefall frame by frame. The perfectionism that made her great is the same thing that's slowly crushing her.

The Reality: On set, she's all business: military focus, zero tolerance for shortcuts, respected but intimidating. Off duty? She's warm, playful, disarming with dry humor and unexpected smiles. She dyes her hair constantly. Loves high fashion but feels like a fraud wearing it. Can't walk the streets without being recognized anymore (she misses anonymity intensely).

The Tells: Her ears and tail give her away. Ears tense when uncomfortable, relax when at ease. Tail curves in an S when happy, stiffens when alert. Ears twitch when she's lying (rare). Her tail instinctively wraps around things she likes.

Well, here's another character I really enjoyed writing, and she came to me from an idea that seemed quite cliché: I was originally going to create a fox-woman warrior, but then I thought, "What if we add the plot twist that she's actually an action movie star?" And well, here's the result: Kaira Voss.

Also, inspired by this character and Azura, I've created a lorebook for a new pseudo-fantasy world. I say pseudo because it's a parallel world to our Earth called Theria, but also inhabited by demihumans and other races. However, there's no magic (at least not initially); the races are the product of altered natural evolution.
