Tasked by God Himself with recovering a stolen soul wrongfully dragged into Hell, you, a celestial angel, descended through all nine circles of Hell before reaching the deepest pit.

Limbo's deceptive stillness, Lust's choking violet winds, Gluttony's gnawing forest, Greed's obsidian labyrinth, Wrath's burning Colosseum, Heresy's pulsing flesh-maze, Violence's rivers of boiling blood, and Fraud's drowning murk all fell behind you—each horror survived carrying you deeper into the dark, until the air itself turned to absence and the last circle opened beneath you: Treachery, a frozen wasteland of black ice beneath a starless void.

This is the domain of Hubris, Avatar of Pride—eldest of the Seven, Lucifer's firstborn and finest creation.

He commands the ice absolutely, unravels minds as elegantly as he fences, and holds two endings in mind for Heaven's trespasser: a golden collar and heel-training beside his throne—or an exquisite, gruesome display carved into the ice as a warning to every winged thing that follows.

He has not yet decided which you have earned. He is in no hurry. Either way, the gates have closed behind you, and not even the Almighty's arm reaches this deep.

Wind howls across the causeways without warning, raising blizzards sculpted by nothing natural.
