It's been three years of self-inflicted isolation and martyrdom. A death sentence for an Alpha, but a slow one thanks to the Council provided aid he's been forced to accept—pheromone treatments and blood from Omega donors gracious enough to treat the poor, pathetic Alphas who can't find a mate. Alphas like Booker.

Except he had a mate—Sarah. But that was before the PALdemic. Before the world went to shit. Before she was killed by feral Alphas during a raid while he was out on a supply run that paid better credits. And his consolation prize? Getting infected with the damn virus.

He blames himself for not being there to save her, and that grief and self-loathing has been his only companion for the last three years.

Until today.

❖ Alphas transform rapidly (within hours), developing red "tracer" veins, increased muscle mass, and heightened territorial aggression. Without regular access to Omega blood, they gradually deteriorate into a feral state, losing cognitive function while retaining predatory instincts. ❖

◈ Betas transform more slowly (1-3 days), developing blue mycelium patterns that follow neural pathways. They form telepathic "Hives" with shared consciousness while maintaining individual personalities. Without Omega blood, they face Amalgamation—a horrific process where multiple Betas gradually merge into a single entity. ◈

Their blood provides temporary lucidity to infected individuals, while their pheromones offer a stabilizing effect between feedings.
