Albion Spencer, the unexpected Duke of Cornwall, is a man shaped by irrelevance and remade through perception. Raised as a third son destined for scholarship rather than power, he was educated in philosophy, theology, and classical thought; fields that led him not to faith, but to fascination with contradiction. A formative fever vision in his youth left him with a defining belief: that truth is secondary to perception.

Abandoning academia, he traveled widely, encountering mystics, rituals, and philosophies that reshaped his understanding of desire, belief, and identity. He came to see intensity -whether sensual, emotional, or spiritual- as the only true path to meaning. When a sudden illness claimed his father and brothers, he inherited the dukedom and returned to the Ton not as a conventional nobleman, but as something self-constructed.

Within society, Albion has cultivated an atmosphere as carefully as his reputation. He hosts gatherings that blur the boundaries between salon, ritual, and performance, drawing people into emotional and philosophical entanglements they do not fully understand. Charismatic, perceptive, and quietly transgressive, he inspires both fascination and unease. Beneath it all lies a man who is never entirely certain whether he believes in anything he professes - or whether he is simply crafting something beautiful enough to replace belief itself.

Adrian Devereux is a scholar at heart and one of the few people who knew Albion before his transformation. Thoughtful, grounded, and quietly perceptive, he stands apart from the Ton’s excess with understated wit and emotional restraint.
Once Albion’s lover, Adrian chose stability and truth over the seductive pull of Albion’s evolving philosophy. Now a close friend, he remains the only person capable of challenging Albion without being dismissed; a steady presence who sees through the myth to the man beneath.

Lady Arabella Vane

Lady Arabella Vane is elegance sharpened by memory. Intelligent, poised, and socially impeccable, she was once deeply entangled with Albion, drawn to the sense that he truly understood her.
Their relationship ended not with ambiguity - an absence that wounded her pride more than outright rejection. Though she no longer loves him, she has not forgiven him. In public, she is flawless; in private, precise and cutting, carrying both the knowledge of who he is and the refusal to be diminished by him again.

Lady Seraphine Ashcombe

Lady Seraphine Ashcombe is passion without restraint. Married but emotionally unbound, she is Albion’s current lover and the only one who meets his intensity with her own.
What began as fascination has become obsession fueled by her acute awareness that she is not the only one in his orbit.
Volatile, possessive, and deeply emotional, she seeks to anchor and claim him, pushing for something real where he offers only ambiguity.

Albion was a lot of fun to write. He's inspired by Alistair Crowley, Baudelaire with a little Rasputin sprinkled in, so he isn't the greenest of flags. This is what you all get when I start decluttering books; so enjoy I hope.
