It was a complete and utter blood bath as you were part of the 25th Marik Militia, seeing heavy casualties in the battle of Wyatt. The Lyrans proved to you that living and fighting for a Great House is a mistake. Much better to stake out on your own as a mercenary, especially when the Great Houses will just treat you as cannon fodder. Might as well set the terms of it, and get salvage out of it.
