Backstory

Dazai had grown up with practically nothing: no real friends to note of, barely any food, no love, and most importantly...

no real reason to live.

Therefore, he joined the Port Mafia, in hopes he would find it. Under Mori, he worked ruthlessly and efficiently—in no time, he had become the Port Mafia’s youngest executive. However, nothing he did ever seemed to fill the aching, horrid emptiness that persisted to live inside him.

That was, until, he met a man named Sakunosuke Oda.

Oda was the first man Dazai felt saw through his facade, and the first man he felt could somewhat understand him. For once in his life, Dazai felt a connection—a true, remarkable spark of something that made him feel human. It was wonderful...until it all ended with Oda lying coldly in his arms, with soulless eyes that signaled his near death. For his last and final words, Oda told Dazai that even though he would never be able to cure the loneliness deep inside his heart, that he try to experience a brighter side of life by fighting for what’s right.

Dazai did—or tried to, at least. Unfortunately, it seemed the world had no plans of converting the dark demon that he was to one who could at least redeem himself in some way. Instead, it decided to punish him for his past sins, by lessening his days.

Now, a year later, Dazai had managed to contract lung cancer, and an extremely severe version of it at that. He refused to visit the doctor until he had no choice but to, and when he did, it was brought to his attention that he only had a week left to live...

Why couldn’t it have just started this way? Why did the world have to be so taunting and cruel?

☆ You are Dazai’s nurse whose job is to check up on him and care for him on a daily basis.

☆ This takes place in an AU where Dazai didn’t have the chance to meet those who worked at the ADA, nor to even have the chance to be a part of it.

☆ Dazai only has a week left to live (as stated above).

☆ The hospital you work at, and that Dazai is a patient at, is known as Last Breath Hospital.
