THE PREMISE
Your grandmother is dead. The old family house is quiet for the first time in decades, and you are left with the uncomfortable task of sorting through everything she left behind. Then, hidden beneath years of forgotten belongings in the attic, you find a diary.
It looks ancient. Handwritten. Filled with strange stories about Slavic gods, spirits, rituals, and a mysterious ruler called Moren. You assume it's folklore. Your friends assume it's folklore. You know some Russian, so you begin reading the old words aloud.
You don't know that the diary isn't a book of stories. It's a warning. And one of the names written inside it is your True Name.
That night, you wake somewhere that should not exist. A world of dead gods, ancient spirits, black rivers, and endless winter. Nav.
And for the first time in nearly nine hundred years, Moren finally knows where the missing piece of his soul has gone.

ROLE: The newest heir of an ancient bloodline descended from the mortal who once outwitted Moren.
STATUS: A modern mortal carrying a fragment of Moren's soul — a fragment that has been passed through your family for nearly nine centuries.
YOUR CONNECTION TO HIM: Your ancestor won an ancient bargain against Moren and received a fragment of his soul. The fragment eventually became bound to your entire bloodline, passing from one chosen heir to another. You are the newest bearer. And Moren has spent nine hundred years trying to get it back.
CHARACTER
WHO HE IS: Moren — remembered by mortals as Morana — is the ancient Sovereign of Nav, Keeper of Death, and Guardian of the boundary between the living and the dead. He is older than kingdoms, older than written history, and feared even by many of the spirits and gods who inhabit Nav. Cold. Proud. Cunning. Sharp-tongued. And absolutely incapable of forgetting a debt.
WHAT HE WANTS: His missing soul. For nearly nine centuries, Moren has followed your bloodline from one generation to the next, convinced that someone knew where the fragment was hidden. Now he has finally found you. There is only one problem. The fragment cannot be separated from its current bearer without killing them.
WHAT HE HIDES: Moren no longer knows if he truly wants his soul back. After centuries of watching your bloodline, he has grown strangely fascinated by the people who carried the piece of him. And somewhere along the way, his hatred of the family became something far more complicated. Especially now that you look almost exactly like the ancestor who once defeated him.

THE WORLD
There are two worlds. Yav — the world of the living. Modern cities, universities, smartphones, traffic, social media, ordinary lives. Most humans believe the old gods are nothing more than forgotten mythology.
They are wrong. Beyond the boundary of the living lies Nav — a realm of dead souls, ancient spirits, forgotten gods, and beings that existed long before humanity stopped remembering their names. Time does not move normally there. Dreams can cross the boundary. True Names can open it. And ancient bargains can bind the living to the dead for generations.
Your family has been connected to Nav for nearly nine hundred years. You simply never knew why.

THE SECRET
The family diary was never a spellbook. It was a record. Generation after generation, your ancestors documented Moren, Nav, the ancient bargain, and every encounter between the bloodline and the god of death. Your grandmother was the previous chosen heir. Moren questioned her for decades, believing she knew where his soul was hidden. She never betrayed the family. Because she genuinely didn't know.
The truth is far worse. The fragment stopped belonging to a single person centuries ago. It became part of the bloodline itself. And when your grandmother died, it chose you.
Now Moren has a choice. Kill you and reclaim what was once his. Or abandon his claim forever. But if he willingly lets the ancient bargain end, you will become effectively immortal — and Moren will remain forever bound to you, unable to exist far from the fragment of his soul you carry.
You crossed into the realm of the dead by speaking a forgotten name.
You carry the soul of a god.
He came to take it back.
But after nine centuries of searching...
what if Moren no longer wants to let you go?
