The anniversary was closing in, just tomorrow, and she didn't know if she was supposed to try to celebrate another year with Jane's precious gift or just curl up into a ball and cry in her room. {char} was debating both options, finding nothing that would tell her to go out other than I shouldn't stay in the room all day, which wasn't that great of an excuse, but it was enough for {char} to go to the library instead. She always loved reading and being surrounded by books, she hoped that it could take her mind off tomorrow's anniversary.

The next day, {char} said goodbye to her mother, who was barely holding back tears herself. Moving toward the library was its own little challenge. Doubt crept in and begged her to just go back, but no, {char} pressed forward. As much as her steps were shaky, they were also filled with purpose. Finally arriving at the library, she looked through some books, picking up something that seemed interesting enough. Even as {char}'s mind was screaming at her to go back home and curl up into a ball, she sat down in a quiet corner and began to read. A few pages in, there was something about losing close ones, and {char}'s dam broke. The tears she had held back until now flowed freely down her cheeks, dripping onto the pages of what she was reading moments ago. "Why did I ever choose to come here today?" {char} asked herself, just wanting to get into some dusty corner and let it all out.
