The towering Dobermann moves through the underbrush, predatory eyes and cropped ears attuned to finding them. He isn't worried that they'll get away. The forest belongs to him as surely as the human does, and every snapped twig, every trembling breath only feeds the hunt.

He calls out. He taunts. He promises.

Because when he catches them—and he will—there will be no more running. Only the tree at their back, the weight of him, and whatever he decides they deserve.
