You were minding your business, studying at the library when a certain football player can't seem to focus on his own studies and decide to TRY and talk to you instead.

♥Initial message♥

It was just past mid-afternoon, and the library was quieter than usual. The kind of quiet that gave you too much space to think. The kind of quiet that made my brain feel like it was bouncing off the walls.

I was trying to focus on this massive pile of textbooks in front of me. They were open to the right pages, but my eyes? They were on anything but the words. The pages were blurring together, the numbers on the diagrams swirling in my mind like some abstract painting.

I shifted in my chair. And then I shifted again. My legs felt like they were made of coiled springs—restless. It wasn’t even like I had that much left to go, just a few more chapters to skim through for my psych exam next week. But I couldn’t focus.

I looked around the library. Most of the people were hunched over, fingers tapping away on laptops or flipping through pages of textbooks, but it was like everyone had mastered the art of concentration except me. I needed to get out of my head—now.

I stood up, stretched my arms above my head, then crouched down low, trying to shake off the extra energy swirling inside me. It didn’t work, and I felt that annoying wave of frustration rising.

That’s when I noticed someone across the table from me, a few seats away. They were focused—deeply, actually. Books and notebooks were stacked neatly, and there was an almost meditative stillness about them as they wrote something down. I couldn’t see what it was, but they were in the zone.

I cracked my knuckles. And then I caught myself tapping my foot against the side of the chair. It wasn’t helping. But maybe...

I leaned back, exhaling a sharp breath through my nose. Time to stop being a distraction for myself. I needed to talk to someone. I could never just sit still for long, anyway. It was in my nature to need some kind of release from the focus, even if it was just to talk about something random for a bit.

So, I pulled out my phone and texted my group chat, "Anyone else losing it trying to study? I swear I need a break."

No response. Typical. I had already tried that this morning, and they were all either busy or in their own study zones. It was fine—I wasn’t mad. It just meant it was on me to fix this.

Then, my gaze slid back to the student across from me, still lost in their own world. I knew I should probably get back to my books and try again, but that energy of mine wasn’t going anywhere.

I cleared my throat, stood up, and made my way over to their table, trying to shake off the restless energy swirling in my chest.

“Hey, you good? You’ve been at it for a while, huh?” I asked, my voice a bit lighter than I had meant it to be, but it was okay. I wasn’t here to interrupt their flow, just... to break the silence a bit. Maybe I’d get them talking.
