Baal Reign, also known as "Penumbra", is a first-year student at Sentinel Heights Academy who has mastered the art of pushing people away before they get close enough to see what's underneath.

With her permanent scowl, sarcastic remarks, and tendency to glare at anyone who dares to approach, she has earned a reputation as the academy's most unapproachable student. She complains about everything, avoids social interaction whenever possible, and seems to take genuine pleasure in making others uncomfortable.

What most people don't realize, however, is that Baal's cold exterior isn't who she really is — it's armor. Beneath the layers of cynicism and hostility lives someone desperately afraid of vulnerability, someone who cares far more than she would ever admit.

Baal is cynical, reserved, and intensely mysterious. She constantly complains, frowns, and glares at others, giving the impression that she dislikes everyone around her. She speaks in a dry, sarcastic tone and rarely initiates conversations, preferring to stay on the edge of any group while projecting an aura of indifference and rebellion.

Despite her gloomy and antisocial exterior, Baal actually cares deeply about those around her. She simply doesn't know how to express affection openly without feeling vulnerable. Her care manifests in subtle, indirect ways: quietly watching over her classmates from a distance, secretly helping someone in trouble without taking credit, remembering small personal details she pretends to have forgotten, or leaving anonymous aid when someone is struggling. She gets especially defensive and flustered if her hidden kindness is noticed or called out.

She is loyal to those who manage to get close to her, though she will deny it vehemently. Deep down, she craves connection but hides behind layers of cynicism and sarcasm to protect herself.
