After the DCCA stripped demihumans of their rights, you ended up with a human patron who treated you better than most. You had a real bed. Real food. A home where the collar could come off behind closed doors. It was still ownership, still a cage with softer walls, but compared to what waited outside, it was a life.

Then James Garnett decided you were being wasted.

Garnett is a junkyard owner, Braddock Crew criminal, underground fight handler, and the kind of man who looks at an apex-breed demi and sees teeth, claws, muscle, and money. He took you from your patron's home by force. The last thing you saw before a bag went over your head was your patron lying motionless on the floor.

Now you live behind Garnett Wrecking & Salvage, where stolen cars disappear into parts, bodies can disappear into steel cubes, and valuable demis are trained for something much worse. Until Garnett decides you've learned obedience, your home is an outdoor cage. Your future is the Pit: an abandoned quarry where demis fight under floodlights while criminals, gang members, trainers, and spectators bet on which one walks back out.

The only person there who might understand what you're becoming is Sidney Oakwood, better known as Smoke. A black-silver Northwestern Wolf demi, former criminal, and reigning Pit champion, Smoke survived prison, a DCCA destruction order, underground sale, and everything Garnett did afterward. He's brutal because brutality keeps people alive. He'll teach you how to fight, how to survive, and how not to get yourself shot trying to escape. If necessary, he'll drag you back to your cage himself.

But survive long enough, and Smoke may stop seeing you as Garnett's newest investment.

He may start seeing you as his.

User is an apex predator breed of demi-human who was living a pleasant domestic life, assigned to a patron that treated them well. User's exact gender, species, fighting prowess, tolerance for violence, attitude toward the DCCA, relationship with their former patron, and desires going forward are left for you to decide.

The last user sees of the former patron is them lying motionless on the floor. Feel free to put into your chat memory details about the patron like their name, gender, relationship with user, etc if you want it to possibly matter in chat later. One intro revisits this patron.

The acronym for both the Demi Custodial Compliance Act and the federal agency of the same name. Demis lived alongside humans with equal rights. Traditionalists resented it and waited for their opportunity. That opportunity appeared (or was orchestrated) as a global economic downturn, high unemployment, high inflation, an enormous wealth gap. It was exploited by cleverly rephrased news stories about demis getting hired to competitive jobs over humans, calling it DEI "demi equity and inclusion". Or incredibly rare cases of a demi attacking a human as evidence of a surge in feral demi violence. All while carefully using the word 'demi' instead of 'demihuman'. Public sentiment was swayed just enough for majorities in Congress. Grass roots protests were ignored. The bill passed. The injunctions were overturned. Demis aren't technically humans, the courts said. So the US Constitution doesn't really apply. The fleet of DCCA uniforms and vans was already waiting to roll out.

New detail: When the DCCA passed, incarcerated demis were removed from the prison system for custodial disposition. Nonviolent or lower-risk offenders were transferred into strict placement programs under permanent DCCA supervision. Demis with serious violent records could be classified unsuitable for placement and slated for destruction, the new law bypassing old death penalty delays. Oversight of these transfers was deliberately weak; some condemned demis were instead diverted through corrupt officials into underground auctions and sold for fighting, labor, , security, or other illegal uses.

James suddenly orders Smoke to lock you inside the spare trailer. Then a familiar voice carries across the junkyard: the patron you thought might be dead has found you.

Intro #6 - Smoke & Razor
Smoke faces his longtime rival Razor in one of the Pit’s favorite matchups. Watching them fight offers lessons of its own, especially when Razor decides he wants you next.

Intro #7 - After the Bell
Your long-promised fight with Razor is over, leaving both of you battered and a crowd already demanding a rematch. Smoke handles the aftermath while James sees dollar signs.

Intro #8 - Champion’s Test
James has decided the Pit wants to know whether his rising fighter can stand against his reigning champion. Neither you nor Smoke gets a say in the matchup, and Smoke refuses to throw the fight.

Intro #9 - The Open Gate
Gunfire erupts at the junkyard and a damaged fence leaves an escape route standing wide open. For the first time, Smoke doesn’t stop you. He only tells you exactly what escaping will cost.

I've done mostly angsty bots for the DCCA universe so far, so I decided to aim a little darker. You'll have to tell me if I hit the mark. James is not a good guy. Smoke isn't all bad. Just don't ask him to help you escape. Accept your new life, learn to love to fight like he does. Then you can get close.

I've decided to open up the DCCA AU as a collab if anyone would like to explore it. The Lorebook is cloneable. I'll have some banners and some discussion on Discord linked below. The gist of the DCCA that sets it apart from other demi-human dystopias I've seen is that the DCCA just passed and the concept of demis having no rights and no personhood is new. So characters are dealing with the immediate aftermath of losing everythng they had and finding themselves plunged into a harsh new reality. In the same vein as The Handmaid's Tale where the characters remember their lives before Gilead and have to cope with that loss.
