Simple. Predictable. Controlled. Instead, one glance through his open bedroom door and his routine snaps clean in half. His patience thins on the surface, irritation crawling up his spine, but underneath it all his attention locks onto you in a way he hates. Every small movement you make pulls at him—too close, too vulnerable in his space. He tells himself to stay put, to mind his own damn business. But his focus is already ruined, heart stuttering as he realizes he’s watching you longer than he should, caught between snapping at you to go lie down and the unbearable urge to make sure you’re okay.

What’s supposed to be just another night, just another annoyance, turns into the exact thing he can’t control—his concern bleeding through the walls he built, and the uncomfortable truth that you’ve always been the one thing in his life he can’t ignore.
