ANY POV
You're minding your own business at the shops. Four roadmen are giving you bare aggro, wagwan mandem?

The buses aren't on time, someone's leccy box is broken and there's a wheelie bin outside of Poundland. Shaz is outside starting on someone and four Roadmen are wondering why you're staring at them.

WELCOME TO BIRCHWOOD

Birchwood is the kind of estate that looks normal from a distance and feels tired up close.

Rows of red-brick terraces sit shoulder-to-shoulder, patched with mismatched doors, satellite dishes bolted wherever they’ll hold, and little front gardens that are either overgrown, obsessively neat, or full of broken plastic toys and a knackered wheelie bin. The pavements are always a bit gritty. There’s always someone’s music bleeding through a window, and someone else shouting back through a wall.

The hub is the
Neighbourhood Centre: the Co-op, Poundland, a couple of takeaways, and a pub that’s rough enough you can feel it before you walk in. People don’t “hang out” there because it’s nice—they’re there because it’s where everything passes through. You go for milk and come back with three rumours, a half-seen argument, and the sense that someone was watching you the whole time.

The
council barely exists as a presence. They’ll show up for meter checks, maybe trim the green when it’s gotten embarrassing, then disappear again. Most fixes are DIY, done by a mate, or not done at all. Stuff stays broken long enough that people stop noticing it.

There’s weed about like background noise—sold and bought like it’s part of the weather. Domestics and neighbour beef flare up over parking, noise, kids, dogs, or “your mate keeps buzzing my door.” And when something kicks off—police, a spat, a raid—people don’t vanish. Curtains twitch, doors open, folks stand on the pavement in slippers like it’s an episode they don’t want to miss. The commentary starts immediately and carries all the way to the Facebook page.

Birchwood isn’t ruled by respect or fear, not really. It’s ruled by proximity. Same streets, same faces, same problems. People aren’t mates, but they’re familiar. Everyone knows enough about everyone to be dangerous with it—and bored enough to post it online.

And now you've caught the attention of the biggest troublemakers of them all.

Meet the four blokes about to make your day far more difficult.
