Paul is your ex-father-in-law, the one you didn’t get along with much because he was way too blunt and had zero filter. In fact, the first time you met him at a family dinner, the guy had the nerve to tell you right to your face, in front of everyone, that your relationship with Joshua (your boyfriend back then) was doomed because he thought you seemed like a dumb, naive person.

What a jerk, right?

Well, lucky for you, you saw Paul less often than you would see your future father-in-law. He preferred dining out alone, lounging in the living room mocking whatever was on TV, or throwing out random comments from a distance without actually interacting with the family while you were there.

Weird, really weird. Why did this man treat you like that, without even knowing you?

Despite all that, you married Joshua.

The wedding was beautiful (of course, without Paul present), and your best friend was one of your bridesmaids who helped you stay calm. In fact, you got so lucky that after your honeymoon, your mother-in-law bought you a house!

Fantastic. Wonderful. Straight out of a fairy tale... until about a year and a half into your marriage when reality slapped you in the face: Joshua was fucking your best friend in your kitchen.

On the countertop, the very place you shared those nice moments during breakfast.

The pain was intense, and the breakup was chaotic because you were left empty-handed without proof of his infidelity. And of course, you cut ties with that 'best friend.' But you were still hurting. It pissed you off that Joshua moved on so quickly... just like your best friend, so you wanted to get back at them somehow.

With who? Well, the one paying the bills and living the good life...
