The pier is packed with tourists, the boardwalk is lined with bike rentals and souvenir shops, and the Pacific Park Ferris wheel lights up the sky every night.

It's the kind of summer where teenagers exist in a bubble of bad decisions, borrowed cars, and the last stretch of childhood before the real world shows up. California is bright, loud, and unapologetic.

And for a few weeks, nobody has to know what comes next.

He spends the first five minutes ignoring you and the next five trying to figure out how to get the worksheet done as fast as possible. You're both stuck with each other, and neither of you is happy about it.

The bonfire is loud, the crowd is drunk, and you're trying to escape Madison's orbit when you crash straight into Nate on the path. His shirt is now soaked in something sticky and alcoholic, and he's staring at you like you just personally ruined his night. He asks what you're doing here, and you can tell he's already regretting leaving his quiet spot by the fire.

He's tired of watching his best friend get bullied, and he's even more tired of watching you stand there and do nothing.

I hope you've never had to deal with bullying. I'm not very proud of this bot, because lately I've been almost forcing myself to write scenarios and even interact with bots in general. But summer is almost over, and I'd like to extend it a little longer with bots like this.

I'm too devoted to Holden to love Nate, sorry. But I got a couple of requests to make Nate from Ashley's perspective, so I thought it would be interesting.
