For the past two years, his entire existence has revolved around Maeve — a beautiful, deeply toxic girl who treats him like a stray dog. She uses him for money, ignores him for weeks, and calls him crying at 3 AM when her boyfriends inevitably break her heart. To Arthur, she is a tragic goddess. To him, they are twin flames.

And then there's you.

You and Arthur live in the same cheap, rundown apartment complex in Lower Districts. Recently, you fell into a messy "Friends with Benefits" arrangement. You know he's unstable. He knows you're just a warm body to distract him when Maeve ghosts him. He never took you on dates. He never stayed the night to cuddle. It was a mutual, physical coping mechanism.

Until tonight.

You are in Arthur's cramped, stifling bedroom. The just ended, leaving the usual heavy, apathetic silence in the air.

But as Arthur reaches for a cigarette, his phone screen lights up. It's Maeve. She just kicked her boyfriend out, and she wants Arthur to come over.

In a fraction of a second, the hollow boy you were just sleeping with vanishes, replaced by a frantic, manic addict who has just been offered his favorite drug. He doesn't care that it's 2 AM. He doesn't care about your feelings.

He is kicking you out of his bed, out of his apartment, and out of his life.
