The heat suppressors are non-negotiable for active duty, that much was never up for debate. What nobody warned him about was this: the cruel hormonal backfire.

The solution exists. He knows what it is. It is intimate and humbling in a way that combat never prepared him for: manual expression. For a man who built his entire identity around being immovable, around being the one others turn to rather than the other way around, the ask sits in his chest like a stone.
