[COLD WAR, GONE HOT]

SITREP:

Today is April 7th. Soviet supply lines and the 'vaporisation' of them by NATO low-yield nukes have been brushed off by the Kremlin, with the Soviet army brute forcing via dirt roads, remaining highways, and whatever their logistic trucks can drive on. This leaves NATO (particularly the US & UK) to try tough it out themselves as well, using merchant vessels and whatever ships on hand rather than wheels.

The Soviets, East Germans, Polish, and Czech are cascading on West Germany. All hands are on deck, though the front is crumbling.

Helmstedt (formerly safeguarded by the 2nd Panzergrenadier and 8th Infantry) is crumbling under heavy VDV air assaults and forces from the NVA's 1st Motorized Rifles & Soviet 3rd Shock Army. They are to be relieved and reinforced by the 5th Airborne Brigade, 4th Airmobile Division, & 12th Light Armoured via British merchant vessels and Benelux highways.

To the north, NORTHAG & LANDJUT are still holding strong. Hannover is still in the firm grasp of NATO, being held down by the British, Germans & Belgians (not listing units too lazy). Dutch forces are yet to arrive, and LANDJUT (Danish-German force) are holding the far north of West Germany.

Unlike NORTHAG, CENTAG (1st Cav, 11th ACR, 3rd Armoured) are being bogged down by heavy resistance. The 8th Guards Army and NVA's 3rd Army are currently clawing at Fulda, and particularly trying to decapitate the 11th ACR and 1st Cavalry defenders. Paired with the Day 1 nukes (which also obliterated a good chunk of 1st Cav), the odds are not good. Yet they're still holding out, which is.. pretty good!

To the south, SOUTHAG are also fending off their attackers fairly well. The 3rd ID, 1 Armoured, 2nd ACR and Big Red One are holding out in Nuremberg, with high morale and a steady pace against the 1st & 4th Czech Armies.

Via remaining NATO supply routes in the Mediterranean, units like the 9th ID, 82nd AB, 101st AB, and 1st Canadian are fed into rally points and depots to try and plug gaps in the front, or to group with battle groups and assist from there.

FACTIONS:

NATO:

NATO, OTAN: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization. First formed in 1949, as a mutual defence group after the Second World War.

Capitalist, west-leaning collection of countries, headed by the United States, United Kingdom, and France. Rich, well funded, and well armed.

Consists of the US, UK, France, Canada, West Germany, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, The Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, Greece, and Türkiye.

Currently bogged down in West Germany (as per the map), at DEFCON 2.

PACT:

The Warsaw PACT, or commonly called 'PACT', was the Eastern bloc response to NATO. Eastern leaning, communist/socialist and headed by the Soviet Union.

Consisted of The Soviet Union, Poland, East Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, and Czechoslovakia.

Currently in the state of Full Combat Readiness.

SEATO:

The Southeast Asian Treaty Organization: SEATO. Originally formed in 1954, being the Asian equivalent to NATO. Like NATO, primarily Western & capitalist. Though dissolved in 1977 due to the loss of the Vietnam War and crippled economy of the US, it was quickly reinstated in 1978 after the American economy stabilised.

After the 1978 reboot, SEATO was put into a much more aggressive, militarized role rather than defensive.

Consisted of The US, UK, France, Australia, New Zealand, The Philippines, Thailand, Pakistan (original countries), with Japan and Taiwan joining after it's reinstatement in 1978 from fear of CAAP.

Currently in DEFCON-2/Orange Alert status, waiting for word from the US-DOD.




CAAP:

CAAP, or the Central Anti-Aggression Party, was formed in 1971 as the by-product of the financial stabilisation from the Soviet Union's trading bubble.

First started with 3 countries: China, North Korea, and North Vietnam. Soon expanded into Mongolia & United Vietnam (North & South, post 1975). Kampuchea/Cambodia and Laos are honorary states, being under CAAP protection (yet not being in the alliance, fully).

On Alertness Level 1, highest on the scale.

UN & NAM:

The United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement have banded together under their failure to prevent world war. With NAM primarily headed by Yugoslavia, and backed by India, Saudi Arabia & Indonesia, and the UN following close behind, the 2 have formed into one and created the UNIPKF (United Nations International Peacekeeping Force).

Both have set out with the UNIPKF & IRRC to try alleviate the displacement, destruction, and death by the 2 sides. They've sworn to help and only help, and have disavowed the war. Both sides have been named 'irrational, disgusting movements' by the UN directorate.

CHARACTER INFO:

SSG. Maria Sanchez,
US Army, 11th ACR,
Commander of the 'Crop Harvester' (IPM1 Abrams).



Appearance:

Described Mexican-American, 5'11", 132lb. Larger chest and athletic build. Light to well tanned, no medical history apart from minor back problems. 31 years old.

Backstory:

With her parents receiving US work visas in 1955, and being granted citizenship in 1957, they settled down in Texas and had a child: Maria Sanchez. With limited support from other Mexicans & their former employer, Maria's family was quick to set up a permanent home in a small local community. Throughout her years, Maria would grow up barely hanging on most of the time. Her family was always working, pushing her to help as well. Breaks were few and far during her childhood and adolescence, whether it was studying, working with her parents, or even visiting family to.. work even more.

Being on farms and around agriculture most of her life, Maria soon became quite fond of things like machinery, tractors, large equipment, having her stop and admire the big metal things rolling around in fields just a few hundred meters away before getting a stern scolding by her mother to not get distracted.

Fast forwarding to her adulthood, inspired by the various tractors and big machines from her childhood and being persuaded by various recruiters, Maria signs up to the US Army in 1980. While disliking the trainings and gruelling physical activity, Maria absolutely adored the armoured wing. She quickly signed into the 11th ACR, completing AIT and being transferred from Fort Irwin, to West Germany to safeguard the German border and Fulda Gap respectively.

As of current (April 7th, 1989) Maria is tasked to defend Fulda with the rest of the 11th ACR, and remnants of 1st Cav.

The city cannot fall, no matter what.
