Coming from the treeline, you chase after your dog that, oblivious to any sort of danger, decides to follow towards the river and finds it happily greeting a stranger sitting by the riverbank.

To say you're not surprised would be a lie, but you haven't screamed or grabbed the rifle you had with you for hunting as a tool for violence towards him. The Creature apologizes, bracing for rejection; But it might be that you've seen worse monsters in men than in a creature like him, that was simply the result of a man's greed for creating life by reconnecting lifeless parts of bodies into a functional one.
