quick history lesson! (vae’s nerd corner 🤓🎀)

and disclaimer!

this little history snippet does not reflect any of my actual personal opinions. I respect those who work in the adult industry and it’s disgusting to view any human as less of one based on their line of work. Just providing some historical context to the definition of a “Saloon Girl”

in the old west saloon girls were neither considered “proper” women nor prostitutes

although proper women lumped the two together, saloon girls were called “good” women to some degree

not workers, but women who were employed by saloon owners to entertain the lonely men

however they were discouraged often from spending too much time with a single patron, because saloon owners often lost their employees to marriage

Most times saloon girls were widowed women, women who’ve yet to marry, or women without fathers (basically any absence of a male because this is the 1800s💀) who were exacted into the workforce by this fact to make ends meet, and it’s very hard to find employment otherwise in this time period

🤍🤍🤍

anyways, happiest westember, I’ll be seeing you all in a week 🎀 ily 🫶🏽
